Chapter 180
Landon and Amelia rushed home excitedly, eager to share their good news with Gloria. To their surprise, the house was packed with people. Donna was there, along with Henry and Cynthia, and even Camila. Camilaโs face was tear-streaked, and she looked completely disheveled.
Landon and Amelia exchanged bewildered glances, thinking, "Whatโs going on here?"
โLandon, please release Patrick. Fraser is sick. Only Patrickโs blood can save him!โ Camila begged tearfully.
Landon suddenly understood. "Camila had already revealed Fraserโs true parentage! Fraser was Patrickโs son. Though born of an illicit union, he was now Henryโs only grandson, the sole heir."
"So, their whole family accepted this fact and came en masse to plead with me," Landon thought.
โLandon, I know Patrick has done many wrong things. But Fraser is innocent. Just release him!โ Donna said.
Landon thought, "When she was young, she favored Henry. When she had a grandson, she doted on Patrick. Now with a great-grandson, sheโs playing favorites more than ever."
โGrandma, how should I know where Patrick is?โ Landon shrugged and took a seat, while Amelia quietly sat beside Gloria and whispered, โGloria, do you agree too?โ
Gloria sighed. โOh, that poor childโฆโ As a mother, Gloria couldnโt bear to see any child suffer. Amelia fell silent, waiting for Landon to make his own decision.
โLandon, stop playing games with us. You were the last person Patrick met before he disappeared. Weโve already checked with the Atkinson family. Youโre the one who got him out of here.โ Henryโs tone was meek, a far cry from his usual arrogance.
Amelia couldnโt help but think, "Serves him right."
Landon said, โUncle Henry, what are you trying to say? Where could I possibly have sent Patrick? Maybe heโs just pulling a disappearing act. Why donโt you try calling the police?โ
Henryโs face contorted in disgust, as if heโd swallowed a fly. "If calling the cops would help, would I be here begging you?" Henry thought.
โLandon, no matter what, the child is innocent. Please, save Fraser,โ Cynthia pleaded, pretending to wipe her eyes, her voice choked with emotion, but her eyes remained completely dry.
โIf Uncle Henry is willing to take a stand, Iโd be happy to help look for Patrick,โ Landon said.
Henry asked, โWhat kind of stand?โ
Landon narrowed his eyes. โDisown Patrick from the Kingsley family and let him fend for himself. From now on, he gets no share of the Kingsley Groupโs dividends.โ
"Patrickโs so ruthless. Heโs made Amy suffer so much. Thereโs no way Iโll let him keep living off the Kingsley Groupโs money," Landon thought.
Henry hesitated. โIt wonโt affect my share of the dividends, will it?โ
โMy father promised youโd always receive your share, and I intend to keep that promise. But I donโt want to support Patrick anymore," Landon replied.
โAlright!โ For the sake of his grandson, Henry gritted his teeth and agreed.
Donna felt sorry for Patrick and pleaded, โLandon, canโt you make another concession? For the sake of the Kingsley familyโs bloodlineโฆโ
โNo,โ Landon scoffed with disdain.
"Iโm so tired of them doing everything in the name of the Kingsley family," he thought. "Fraser is Patrickโs son, not mine. Besides, my son is on the way. Only my son will be the true heir to the Kingsley family."
โLandon, wonโt you even listen to me now?โ Donna raised her voice in anger.
Landon offered no defense, simply fixing his gaze on Henry. Knowing his nephewโs temperament and methods, and anxious to see his son as soon as possible, Henry turned to persuade Donna instead. โMom, let it go. Letโs do it this wayโฆโ
โOnce you finish the legal separation, notify me and Iโll arrange for someone to look for him. Itโs getting late. I wonโt keep you any longer,โ Landon said firmly.
Henryโs family slunk away in defeat. Before leaving, Camila bowed to Landon. โThank youโฆโ
โDonโt do that,โ Landon quickly stopped her. โJust make sure he doesnโt cause any more trouble.โ
โIโll keep a close eye on him,โ Camila said.
Camila, the forever-unacknowledged daughter-in-law, looked grateful. "She is the only one in Henryโs family with any decency left," Landon thought.
Gloria sighed, โNow that Fraserโs true parentage has come out, Camilaโs husband almost beat her to death. Theyโve already kicked her out of the house.โ
Landon smiled and said, โMom, thatโs not our concern. Your daughter-in-law is pregnant. You should be worrying about her instead.โ
โWhat?โ Gloria was overjoyed and stunned.
Landon waved the hospital report smugly and said, โIโm telling you, youโre going to be a grandma.โ
โOh, thatโs wonderful, so wonderfulโฆโ Gloria clutched Ameliaโs hand tightly. โAmy, tell me this isnโt a joke.โ
โGloria, itโs true! Iโm pregnant,โ Amelia said shyly, biting her lip.
Gloria pulled her into a hug. โIโm going to be a grandma! Isaac, can you see this from heaven? Weโre going to have a grandson.โ
Amelia reminded her, โMom, we donโt even know if itโs a boy or a girl yet.โ
โAs long as itโs our familyโs child, theyโll be the next CEO of the Kingsley Group,โ Gloria said.
Amelia shook her head and laughed, thinking Gloria was over the moon. It wasnโt until much later that Amelia realized Gloria hoped this baby would be a girl and wanted to raise her to be just like Landon, because it was her way of making up for what she owed Kayla.
Henryโs family acted swiftly this time. By the next day, they had completed the formal disownment procedures. They also prepared a notarized severance agreement, officially severing all ties between Patrick and Henry, and promising Patrick would no longer receive dividends from the Kingsley Group.
Landon was just as efficient. He called someone to bring Patrick back. But unexpectedly, the person on the other end said, โMr. Kingsley, Patrick is missing.โ
โHow is that possible?โ Landon was shocked.
He thought, "Patrick had his tendons severed in his limbs. Even after treatment, he is permanently disabled. Moreover, heโs confined in Ausposh and is under constant surveillance. How could he possibly disappear?"
โHe vanished three days ago. We thought weโd try to find him first, so we didnโt report it to youโฆโ the person on the other end said.
โAnd now? Any leads?โ Landon asked.
โNone. Itโs like Patrick had vanished without a trace. We canโt find a single clue. Weโve reported it to the local police, but it hasnโt helpedโฆโ said the man on the other end.
Landonโs expression darkened.
Henry nervously asked, โLandon, whatโs going on?โ
โHeโs missing. We need to find him,โ Landon replied.
Henryโs expression changed instantly. โMissing? What the hell do you mean?โ
โHe escaped,โ Landon said coolly.
โWhat are we supposed to do now? Fraser needs his blood transfusion to survive!โ Henryโs eyes reddened with anxiety as he slammed his hands on Landonโs desk, glaring at him. โDid you kill my son?โ
โI donโt do anything illegal,โ Landon said coldly. โFor now, get Fraser treated. Iโll send more people to search.โ
Henry hissed, โLandon, youโd better find my son. If anything happens to Fraser, I swear to God, Iโll fight you to death!โ
With that threat, Henry rushed to the hospital to see his grandson.
Aaron frowned in confusion. โMr. Kingsley, how could Patrick possibly escape in his condition? And if he did, why didnโt he come home?โ
The words hit Landon like a bolt from the blue. He suddenly sat bolt upright. โHe didnโt escape. Someone abducted him.โ
"But who would want to abduct Patrick?" Landon wondered.
