Chapter 183

In the Kyle family, after finishing his piano practice, Landen snuggled into Aidenโ€™s arms. โ€œUncle Aiden, I practiced ten times today!โ€

โ€œGood job,โ€ Aiden said softly.

Aiden had just finished his shower, his light gray robe hanging loosely on his body. Water dripped from his hair, sliding down his chest in a way that was downright seductive. Good thing there were no women in the room, or they would have totally lost their minds over him!

โ€œUncle Aiden, I did exactly what you told me. I told Mrs. Kingsley that Mommy has blond hair,โ€ Landen said.

Aiden affectionately patted Landenโ€™s head. โ€œSuch a good boy!โ€

โ€œBut Uncle Aiden, why did we have to lie?โ€ Landen looked up at him, his face full of confusion.

The innocence of a child would always hit the softest spot in oneโ€™s heart. Aiden felt a bit guilty.

โ€˜In the end, I still ended up using the kid,โ€™ Aiden thought with a sigh. He frowned, thinking for a while before finally saying, โ€œGrown-up stuff, you wouldnโ€™t understand. Donโ€™t worry about it.โ€

โ€œUncle Aiden, when can I go see Mrs. Kingsley again?โ€ Landen asked.

โ€œNext time you come to Norava,โ€ Aiden replied.

Landenโ€™s face fell immediately. โ€œUncle Aiden, I donโ€™t want to go backโ€ฆ Itโ€™s not fun at home at all.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t you miss Mommy?โ€ Aidenโ€™s eyes flashed with a hint of darkness, but then he quickly put on a bright smile.

โ€œI only miss Mommy, not anyone else,โ€ Landen pouted, looking aggrieved. โ€œActually, I donโ€™t really miss Mommy that much eitherโ€ฆ She doesnโ€™t even recognize me.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s just temporary. One day, Mommy will remember you,โ€ Aiden said, patting his head and smiling to comfort him.

But sometimes, a kidโ€™s sadness just didnโ€™t go away that easily. Having a mom who didnโ€™t remember him was the one thing Landen just couldnโ€™t get over.

โ€˜When will Mommy ever remember me?โ€™ Landen thought sadly.

Aiden glanced at the calendar, already making plans in his mind. โ€˜The DNA test that Amelia secretly sent off should be coming back soon, right?โ€™

He never would have thought that Amelia, the โ€œevil sisterโ€ in Sandraโ€™s words, would end up becoming his greatest ally.

At Kingsley Group, early in the morning, Henry and his wife showed up at the office with a swarm of reporters, blocking Landon at the door.

Henry demanded, โ€œLandon, where the hell did you put Patrick?โ€

Cynthia snapped, โ€œWhy hasnโ€™t Patrick shown up after all these days?โ€

โ€œDid you kill him? Landon, youโ€™re seriously twistedโ€”even your own cousin isnโ€™t safe from you!โ€

Landon said nothing in response.

The couple took turns yelling at Landon, trading accusations back and forth. The reportersโ€™ cameras kept flashing, and even though their stories werenโ€™t written yet, they already had the perfect clickbait headline in mind: [Kingsley Family Feud: Henryโ€™s Eldest Son Missing].

Camila went even further. She dropped to her knees before Landon, tears streaming down her face as she pleaded, โ€œMr. Kingsley, please. Iโ€™m begging you, save my son!โ€

Another round of camera flashes went off, catching every bit of the drama.

โ€œIโ€™m already working on it. Just give me a little more time,โ€ Landon said calmly.

He didnโ€™t care much for Henry and Cynthia, but he wasnโ€™t about to pick on a woman like Camila. He helped Camila up and said, โ€œIโ€™ll go find him myself. And before that, Iโ€™ve already arranged for the blood Fraser needs.โ€

โ€œReally?โ€ Camila asked in disbelief. โ€œEven with Patrick gone, thereโ€™s still blood available?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€ Landon nodded solemnly.

โ€œKids are innocent. No matter what kind of grudge I have with Patrick, Iโ€™d never drag a child into it,โ€ he said.

Even though Fraserโ€™s illness needed Patrick himself to cure it, as long as he could find a suitable blood match for the time, it would help keep Fraserโ€™s condition under control.

โ€œThank you. Thank youโ€ฆโ€ Camila said, her voice overflowing with gratitude. Compared to the rest of the Henry family, Camila was much more reasonable. She thanked Landon over and over before finally leaving.

Henry was fuming. โ€œCamila, donโ€™t go! We havenโ€™t even finished our script yetโ€ฆโ€

โ€œPfft! You guys even have a script?โ€ Amelia couldnโ€™t help but laugh out loud.

Cynthia shot her a fierce glare. โ€œDonโ€™t you dare laugh!โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Amelia replied, quickly straightening her face.

โ€˜Alright, alright, Iโ€™ll behave,โ€™ Amelia thought, forcing herself to stop smiling. Cynthia had been itching to take a shot at Amelia, but it was like punching a pillow. There was no impact at all. She felt a wave of frustration building up inside her, like she was holding her breath and couldnโ€™t let it out.

Henry jabbed a finger at Amelia and barked, โ€œThis isnโ€™t your place to butt in!โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s right! Someone like you, who isnโ€™t even wanted by your own parents, has no manners at all. How dare you laugh when your elders are talking?โ€ Cynthia finally seized her chance to lash out.

Landon was about to step in and defend Amelia when he saw a man stepping out of the elevator. His eyebrows shot up, and he immediately shut his mouth.

โ€˜Looks like the very protective brother just arrived. Time for me to sit back and enjoy the drama,โ€™ Landon thought with a smirk.

โ€œWho are you calling no manners?โ€ A cold, commanding voice rang out, accompanied by the sound of firm, purposeful footsteps.

โ€œMr. Zuckerberg?โ€ Henry blurted out in shock, suspicion in his eyes. โ€œWhat are you doing here at Kingsley Group?โ€

โ€œWhat, you think Iโ€™d just stand by and let you walk all over Amelia?โ€ Daniel strode over to Amelia, his gaze sweeping over everyone with authority. โ€œLet me make this official. Amelia is my sister. From now on, anyone who goes against her is going against the entire Zuckerberg family!โ€

Henry and Cynthia looked like theyโ€™d just been struck by lightningโ€”completely shell-shocked.

โ€˜Wait, Amelia is actually the heiress of the Zuckerberg family in Lunova?โ€™ they thought, utterly in disbelief.

โ€˜Isnโ€™t she supposed to be the eldest daughter of the Edwards familyโ€”the one Walter canโ€™t stand? The one who doesnโ€™t even have a single friend or family member in Norava whoโ€™d ever stand up for her?โ€™ they wondered, still reeling from the shock.

โ€œDaniel, what brings you here?โ€ Amelia asked in surprise. Actually, that was perfect. She could take the chance to tell him about Landonโ€™s trip to Ausposh.

โ€œSilly girl, why didnโ€™t you flaunt your status a little? Letting those snobs look down on you and push you around!โ€ Daniel shook his head, his voice full of doting affection.

Amelia just smiled nonchalantly. โ€œIf a mad dog bites you, you canโ€™t exactly bite it back, right?โ€

Henry and Cynthiaโ€™s faces alternated between pale and flushed with anger.

โ€˜Whoโ€™s she calling a mad dog?โ€™ they both thought angrily.

As for the reporters theyโ€™d brought along, theyโ€™d slipped away at some point.

Landon clapped his hands sharply. โ€œGuards, escort them out!โ€

The guards nodded. โ€œYes, sir!โ€

Henry and Cynthia were โ€œpolitelyโ€ shown the door of Kingsley Group, but they left with a bitter taste in their mouths.

โ€œYouโ€™re no match for Landon,โ€ a lazy voice drifted over from behind their car.

Both of them startled and hurried over to check. โ€œMr. Kyle?โ€

โ€œPatrick is still alive, so relax!โ€ Aiden said, his signature charming eyes narrowing as he gave them a dazzling smile.

But Henry felt a chill run down his spine at that dazzling smile. There was something downright unsettling about it.

โ€˜The youngest CEO of Merry Group, heir to a financial empire, tossing out billions of dollars like pocket changeโ€ฆ No way a guy like that is as harmless as he looks,โ€™ Henry thought, his nerves on edge.

โ€œMr. Kyle, have you seen Patrick?โ€ Cynthia asked nervously.

โ€œNo, I havenโ€™t,โ€ Aiden replied, shaking his head.

Then he reached into his pocket, pulled out a lighter, and lit up a cigarette.

The slightly worn, flashy lighter made Henryโ€™s eyes widen in shock. That was Patrickโ€™s favorite lighter. He never went anywhere without it!

โ€œHenry, you really should trust Landon. Heโ€™ll definitely help you get your son back. Butโ€ฆโ€

Aidenโ€™s tone suddenly shifted, the warmth in his smile replaced by a dangerous edge.

โ€œWhen Landonโ€™s not around, donโ€™t even think about bullying his wife. Or youโ€™ll have to deal with the consequences,โ€ he warned coldly.

โ€œYes, right, whatever you sayโ€ฆโ€ Henry stammered, cold sweat beading on his forehead.

Aidenโ€™s lips curled back into a smile, all traces of menace gone. โ€œAlright, thatโ€™s the end of the secrets. Time for me to go see Mr. Landon Kingsley.โ€

โ€œMr. Kyle, after you!โ€ Henry quickly stepped aside to let him pass.

โ€˜The hallway was more than wide enoughโ€ฆโ€™ Henry thought, feeling the pressure anyway.

It wasnโ€™t until Aiden had walked away that Cynthia leaned in and whispered, โ€œHoney, what did he mean by that?โ€

โ€œOur sonโ€™s fateโ€ฆ Iโ€™m afraid itโ€™s completely in his hands now,โ€ Henry let out a heavy sigh.

Cynthia was stunned. โ€œItโ€™s him? Shouldnโ€™t we call the police or maybe tell Landon about this?โ€

โ€œAre you stupid? Canโ€™t you see whatโ€™s going on? Mr. Kyle is here because of Landon!โ€ Henry snapped, glaring at his wife.

โ€œWhat?โ€ Cynthia was even more confused. โ€œDo they have some kind of grudge?โ€

Henry shook his head. โ€œI donโ€™t know. But weโ€™d better just keep our heads down.โ€
