Chapter 237

โ€œYes,โ€ Kayla nodded, her face pale.

She looked like she was at her limit, only staying on her feet through sheer willpower.

Thinking about her conditionโ€ฆ.

Amelia hurried over to steady her. โ€œSis, when did you start remembering?โ€

โ€œA year ago,โ€ Kayla replied.

โ€œSo, what exactly do you remember?โ€ Amelia asked.

Landon gripped his phone tightly, wanting to know if Aidenโ€™s story was true.

He hoped it wasnโ€™tโ€ฆ

No woman ever wants to be abused by her husband!

โ€œEverything my brother said is true,โ€ Kayla said.

She still couldnโ€™t help but see Aiden as her little brother.

As her real brother, Landon couldnโ€™t help but feel a bitter taste in his heart.

โ€œAiden isnโ€™t exactly a good guy, but he treated me well,โ€ Kayla said with a faint smile. โ€œIf it hadnโ€™t been for him, I probably wouldnโ€™t be here today.โ€

โ€œSis, Iโ€™m sorryโ€ฆ We shouldโ€™ve found you sooner,โ€ Amelia said, glancing at Landon and apologizing for both of them.

Landon cursed bitterly, โ€œItโ€™s all Tuffโ€™s fault!โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Kayla looked surprised.

โ€˜What does Tuff have to do with this? That guyโ€™s actually pretty nice and really capableโ€“heโ€™s one of the top elites in the Flying Tiger Sect,โ€™ Kayla thought.

From what sheโ€™d heard, heโ€™d been helping to look for her all along.

โ€œIf it werenโ€™t for him back then, I wouldโ€™ve brought you home ages ago,โ€ Landon growled through clenched teeth.

If that had happened, Kayla never wouldโ€™ve had to suffer under Jonny!

โ€˜Tuff, this isnโ€™t over between us!โ€™ he thought.

โ€œReally?โ€ Kayla frowned. โ€œHe stopped you from finding me? That doesnโ€™t sound rightโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhen we took down the Limitless Sect, you were injured and lying in a pool of blood. He was the first to find you, but he didnโ€™t get you out right awayโ€ฆโ€

As Landon thought back to that day, the bitterness in his heart only deepened.

โ€œAnd then what?โ€ Kayla pressed.

โ€œBy the time I got there, you were already gone,โ€ Landon said.

โ€œOh!โ€ Kayla relaxed her frown and said casually, โ€œWell, you canโ€™t put all the blame on him. I didnโ€™t remember any of you, so of course I would have tried to save myself first if things got dangerous."

Landon still couldnโ€™t let it go. โ€œBut if he had gotten you out firstโ€ฆโ€

Chapter 237

โ€œLandon, there arenโ€™t so many โ€˜what ifsโ€™ in life,โ€ Kayla said earnestly. โ€œItโ€™s obvious Tuff sees you as a brother. Donโ€™t hold a grudge against him over this.โ€

Seeing his dear sister take someone elseโ€™s side, Landon couldnโ€™t help but feel sour inside. โ€œIf he hadnโ€™t hesitated, you never wouldโ€™ve ended up with the Kington Gang.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s all fate,โ€ Kayla said.

She smiled and brushed her long hair back, clearly not caring about the past at all.

After all, she didnโ€™t remember any of it.

Just being back with the Kingsley family was enough for her.

Landon scratched his head gloomily.

Either way, he just couldnโ€™t let go of what Tuff did!

Suddenly, Amelia realized something didnโ€™t add up.

She knitted her delicate brows and asked, โ€œSis, when you were undercover, did it never cross your mind to come home? Or was there something that forced you to stay away and not contact the family?โ€

โ€œSpy?โ€ Kayla looked completely stunned, pointing at herself. โ€œI was actually a spy?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Landon replied.

Landon took a deep breath and started telling her about the whole spy mess with the Limitless Sect.

Kayla looked even more lost. โ€œSo youโ€™re telling me, after I was kidnapped, I ended up with the Limitless Sect, the leaders took me in as their own, and raised me to be a spy?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Landon replied.

The more Landon thought about it, the more it just didnโ€™t make sense.

โ€˜Kayla only had that memoryโ€“blocking chip put in after Aiden died. So why didnโ€™t she ever try to come home when she was with the Limitless Sect?

โ€˜She was already seven years old back thenโ€“thereโ€™s no way she couldโ€™ve forgotten who she was at that age.โ€™

โ€œI donโ€™t remember,โ€ Kayla said, shaking her head.

She couldnโ€™t remember anything from when she was seven until she turned twenty.

If they hadnโ€™t brought up the Limitless Sect, she never wouldโ€™ve even known sheโ€™d been trained as a spy.

Sheโ€™d even been puzzled about how sheโ€™d gotten so good at fighting.

โ€œJust forget it all, okay?โ€ Amelia said softly, hugging Kayla with a heart full of sympathy. โ€œEven everything that happened with the Kington Gangโ€“Letโ€™s just let it go.โ€

Kayla pressed her lips together.

โ€˜No, I could never forget every single day and night of being tormented by that bastard, Jonny,โ€™ she thought.

โ€˜I will have her revenge!โ€™ she swore to herself.

โ€˜I am going to dig up Jonnyโ€™s grave, grind his bones to dust, and scatter them to the wind!โ€™ she vowed fiercely.

Just then, Kaylaโ€™s phone rang. Landenโ€™s voice came through, crying, โ€œMommyโ€ฆโ€

Chapter 237

โ€œLanden?โ€ Kayla asked.

With just a glance from Kayla, Landon immediately started tracking Landenโ€™s location.

โ€œMommy, I donโ€™t feel good. Can you come get me?โ€ Landenโ€™s voice was full of tears, sounding so pitiful.

Not just Kayla, even Amelia felt her heart ache at the sound.

โ€œLanden, whatโ€™s wrong?โ€ Kayla asked.

โ€œHeโ€™s sick,โ€ came a stern, commanding voice.

The authoritative tone of Eddie made Kayla instinctively shudder.

Landon quickly grabbed her hand, giving her strength.

Kayla took a deep breath and asked, โ€œDad, does Landen have a fever?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s a blood disease. He needs your bone marrow to survive. You need to come back right away,โ€ Eddie said.

Landon almost laughed out loud, mouthing to Kayla, โ€œHeโ€™s lying.โ€

โ€œDad, Landen is your grandson. How you treat him is your familyโ€™s business. Donโ€™t ever ask me about this again,โ€ Kayla said coldly.

Her ruthlessness caught everyone off guard.

Amelia and Landon looked at each other, their hearts aching with both shock and sympathy.

Eddie, however, wasnโ€™t fazed at all. His tone was as authoritative as ever. โ€œYouโ€™ve gotten your memories back, havenโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Kayla replied.

โ€œHow long have you remembered?โ€ Eddie asked.

โ€œAll of them,โ€ Kayla replied.

โ€œThen you should remember, it was Jonny who saved your life. A debt like thatโ€“you should spend your whole life repaying it!โ€ Eddie said.

His words made Landon let out a bitter, sarcastic laugh, and he reached out, wanting to grab the phone and say something.

But Kayla dodged his hand and shook her head at him.

She turned back to Eddie and said, โ€œTwo years of abuse and seven years locked awayโ€“whatever debt I owed is long gone.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s just how Jonny wasโ€“how can you still hold it against him? He loved you so much,โ€ Eddie insisted.

Kaylaโ€™s voice shot up, sharp as a knife. โ€œSo abusing me is just in his blood? The Kyle family really breeds some top-tier psychosโ€“raising a freak even worse than an anima!!โ€

Eddie snapped, โ€œDonโ€™t you dare insult Jonny!โ€

โ€œEddie, Iโ€™m never coming back, so just give up! As for Landen, do whatever you wantโ€“I donโ€™t care anymore!โ€ Kayla said coldly.

With that, she hung up, not giving him a chance to say another word.

But the way her body trembled still betrayed just how anxious and fragile she really was.

No matter what, Landen was still the child she had carried for ten monthsโ€“her own flesh and blood.

Chapter 237

Because of Landen, those five years of virtual imprisonment werenโ€™t quite so unbearable.

As the years went by, she could hardly see the shadow of Jonny in Landen anymore.

She might not love him, but she couldnโ€™t just stand by and do nothing.

Her ruthlessness today was all for Landenโ€“every hard decision she made was for his sake.

โ€œSisโ€ฆโ€ Amelia called out softly.

โ€œIt doesnโ€™t matter to me,โ€ Kayla said, her voice steady.

She lifted her chin, her phone ringing againโ€“it was Eddie calling back.

She was about to hang up when Landon snatched the phone from her.

โ€œIf that chip isnโ€™t taken out, sheโ€™s got maybe half a year left at best. Kayla, I really hope youโ€™ll think this over,โ€ Eddie said, his anger barely contained.

โ€œThink what over?โ€ Landon shot back.

Eddie was clearly stunned for a second, then sneered arrogantly. โ€œHand over Aiden, and swear the Flying Tiger Sect will never mess with the Kington Gang againโ€“do that, and Iโ€™ll make sure your sister gets the treatment she needs.โ€
