Chapter 244

โ€œBefore Kayla came home, Amelia and she spent over a month together at the Kyle Estate. They got along great. After Kayla returned, she kept telling me how smart and beautiful Amelia was. Since they know each other so well, itโ€™s easier for them to notice if somethingโ€™s off,โ€ Tuff explained.

Tuffโ€™s analysis was spot on, and Daniel was in high spirits. If thatโ€™s the case, Amelia should be able to tell that the news about Landonโ€™s death is fake too.

โ€œMr. Zuckerberg, Iโ€™m just worried that Amelia might really believe Landon is dead and get too upset,โ€ Tuff said. โ€œWe need to find a way to let her know the truth.โ€

Daniel had the same idea.

But with the fake Kayla running the Kingsley family, there was no way for them to get in.

โ€œI still canโ€™t wrap my head around how this fake managed to fool everyone without raising any suspicion,โ€ Tuff said.

Daniel replied, โ€œYou can imitate someoneโ€™s figure and demeanor, but Kaylaโ€™s faceโ€ฆโ€

โ€œShe couldnโ€™t have gone so far as to ruin her own face just to look like Kayla, right?โ€ Tuff frowned.

Amelia had been sharing a room with the fake Kayla, so she must have taken a close look at the scars on the fakeโ€™s face. If anything was off, she wouldโ€™ve definitely noticed.

So even the scars on her face were copied to match Kaylaโ€™s exactly.

โ€œCould it be that the Kington Gang had a double ready all this time?โ€ Daniel asked.

Tuff shuddered. โ€œIf thatโ€™s true, then hasnโ€™t Kayla been at risk every single moment sheโ€™s been with the Kyle family all these years?โ€

โ€œTuff, youโ€™re way too nervous. Isnโ€™t she alive and kicking?โ€ Daniel gave Tuff a knowing look. โ€œDonโ€™t tell me you actually caught real feelings for her while pretending?โ€

Tuff cleared his throat. โ€œNo, nothing like that.โ€

But his ears flushed red.

Daniel just smiled and didnโ€™t press the issue further.

โ€œWe need to tell Landon about this right awayโ€ฆโ€ Daniel said.

โ€œIโ€™ll head to Norava myself. You get in touch with the Flying Tiger Sect and dig up the real identity of this fake,โ€ Daniel instructed.

โ€œGot it,โ€ Tuff replied.

They split upโ€“Daniel set off for Norava, while Tuff stayed behind, holding down the fort in the capital.

If Amelia had already uncovered the fakeโ€™s secret, then the Zuckerberg family had to make a moveโ€“if they acted too indifferent, the imposter might start getting suspicious of Amelia.

As Daniel was deep in thought, he had just arrived at the business airport when he spotted Giovanna.

She was dressed head-to-toe in black leather, looking striking and valiant.

Daniel smiled, โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ โ€˜Looks like the Hughes family finally couldnโ€™t sit still.โ€™

โ€œMy family sent me to Norava as their representative,โ€ Giovanna replied, idly spinning a scalpel between her fingers.

The polished blade caught the sunlight, its cold gleam almost blinding.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ve got a plane ready. Letโ€™s head out together,โ€ Daniel said.

In Norava, Landon disguised himself as a flower delivery man and showed up outside the Kingsley family mansion.

The place was already under the Kington Gangโ€™s control. There was no way he could risk sneaking in now.

Of course, breaking in wasnโ€™t really what he was after anyway.

All he wanted was to see Amelia in person and have a real โ€œheart-to-heartโ€ with her.

โ€œWho are you? What are you doing here?โ€ a haughty voice called out.

That spoiled toneโ€“who else could it be but Elaine?

Landon pulled his hat down a little further and changed his voice. โ€œIโ€™m here to deliver some flowers. Mr. Zuckerberg sent them.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re not accepting them,โ€ Elaine snapped. Of course, she knew all about the Zuckerberg familyโ€“they were Ameliaโ€™s people, after all.

โ€œEven if she doesnโ€™t want them, she has to refuse them herself,โ€ Landon insisted.

โ€œIโ€™ll sign for her!โ€ Elaine snapped.

โ€œThatโ€™s not allowed,โ€ Landon replied.

โ€œWhy are you delivery guys always so nosy?โ€ Elaine said, getting impatient.

โ€˜Amelia is about to die from the shock anyway, letting her get one last bouquet from her family wouldnโ€™t make a difference. Maybe these flowers will get her all worked up, so when the bad news hits, the drama will be even juicier,โ€™ she thought.

โ€œWait here, Iโ€™ll go ask,โ€ Elaine said, heading inside. She bumped right into the fake Kayla and put on a fawning smile. โ€œThe Zuckerberg family sent someone with flowers. I stopped them at the door.โ€

When Amelia heard this in the living room, her eyes lit up with excitement.

She wasnโ€™t really into flowers, and it wasnโ€™t any special occasionโ€”no holiday, no birthday. If Daniel was sending flowers out of nowhere, there had to be a reason for it.

She had to see for herself.

โ€œMom, can you take me to have a look?โ€ Amelia said to Gloria.

In just a couple of days, Gloria looked like sheโ€™d wasted away, her face clouded with a worry that just wouldnโ€™t go away.

She immediately led Amelia out of the living room.

The fake Kayla stepped in front of them. โ€œMom, you canโ€™t go out.โ€

โ€œAmelia loves flowers. Just let her take a quick look,โ€ Gloria sighed. โ€œHer hands are tied. What could she possibly do?โ€

The fake Kayla glanced at Amelia, who looked miserable, her eyes dull and lifeless.

โ€œJust let her take a quick look. Itโ€™s fine,โ€ Elaine said.

The fake Kayla finally relented. โ€œIโ€™ll go with you.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Gloria replied.

They walked to the door and looked at the flowers through the fence, standing a couple of feet away.

Landon finally laid eyes on the wife heโ€™d been longing for day and night, and his heart was bursting with joy.

He raised the huge bouquet high and said in his disguised voice, โ€œWhether you accept these flowers or not, please have Mrs. Kingsley sign for them.โ€

As he spoke, he sent a message straight to her heart.

โ€œHoney, itโ€™s me!โ€

Ameliaโ€™s pupils practically quaked with shock.

Sheโ€™d guessed the flower delivery guy might have some hidden agenda, but never in a million years did she expect it to be Landon in the flesh!

So he really hadnโ€™t gone through with the surgery after allโ€“just as she suspected!

โ€œHoney, Tuff told me the Kayla at home is a fake, right? If thatโ€™s true, cough twice.โ€

Amelia quickly stifled a cough behind her hand. โ€œCough! Cough!โ€

Landon squeezed his eyes shutโ€“Tuffโ€™s hunch had been spot on!

His beloved sister would never hurt them. Sheโ€™d only gone missing and been replaced by an imposter.

โ€œHoney, donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll take care of everything.โ€

โ€œCough! Cough!โ€ Amelia coughed again, lowering her gaze.

It was the only way she could hide the excitement bubbling inside her and keep them from suspecting anything.

โ€œWhy do you keep coughing?โ€ the fake Kayla asked, eyeing her suspiciously.

Amelia rubbed her throat. โ€œProbably just got a bit of heat from eating too much junk lately. My lungs feel a little irritated.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t accept the flowers,โ€ the fake Kayla ordered.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Amelia replied.

The fake Kayla handed over the delivery card, checked it for anything suspicious, then kept a close eye on Amelia as she signed her name.

Amelia wrote her name stroke by stroke, neat and careful, just like a schoolkid.

The fake Kayla sneered, โ€œLooks like a grade-schooler wrote that.โ€

โ€œI was worried if I signed it all fancy and dramatic, youโ€™d think I was sending some secret code and get the poor delivery guy in trouble,โ€ Amelia replied with a wry smile.

โ€œGood, you know whatโ€™s good for you,โ€ the fake Kayla said.

The fake Kayla tossed the card onto the bouquet. โ€œNow get lost!โ€

Landon gave a slight nod, hugged the bouquet, and rode off on his little electric scooter.

Amelia watched him disappear through the fence and finally let out a long sigh of relief.

โ€˜Finally, we made contact!โ€™ she thought.

โ€œAmelia, Iโ€™ve got some news about Landon. Want to hear it?โ€ Elaine asked, her tone dripping with arrogance.

โ€˜Itโ€™s been days without any word from Landonโ€“she must be desperate for news,โ€™ Elaine thought.

โ€œNo,โ€ Amelia said flatly.

Even Amelia turned her downโ€“now that was unexpected.

Elaine was stunned. โ€œSeriously? Did you even hear me? Iโ€™m talking about Landon!โ€

โ€œLike Iโ€™d ever expect anything good to come out of your mouth. Save it,โ€ Amelia shot back, leaning on Gloria as she slowly made her way back to the living room.

โ€˜Heโ€™s alive, and heโ€™s already onto the truth. That means heโ€™ll be here to save me soon,โ€™ she thought, โ€˜Thank goodness, thank goodnessโ€ฆโ€™

โ€œDid you just call me a dog, Amelia?โ€ Elaine snapped, her hand shooting up in anger.

But the fake Kayla stopped her just in time. โ€œCut it out!โ€

Elaine awkwardly dropped her hand, then shoved her phone in Ameliaโ€™s face. โ€œAmelia, your Landon is dead!โ€
