Chapter 36

Landonโ€™s striking and dignified face, now adorned with a dab of pink cream, took on a comically endearing appearance.

An uneasy silence fell over the room. โ€˜Itโ€™s over. Mr. Kingsley is bound to be enraged!

Even Gloria was worried for Amelia. To everyoneโ€™s surprise, Landon didnโ€™t show anger; instead, he looked at Amelia with a tender, affectionate smile.

โ€œIn this case, Iโ€™ll consider you to have had your share of the cake,โ€ Amelia beamed with delight, her eyes twinkling like stars. It had been a long time since she had laughed with such abandon.

Her last life had been riddled with pain, causing her to encase her heart in a protective shell in this life for fear of falling back into a nightmare and suffering again.

Today, she felt genuine warmth and affection again. This life was proving to be worthwhile.

When they returned to the room after the birthday celebration, the pink cream still lingered on Landonโ€™s forehead.

Amelia discreetly took out her phone and snapped a photo. Landonโ€™s eyes narrowed, saying, โ€œI saw you.โ€

โ€œOh dear, you saw me.โ€ Amelia playfully stuck out her tongue and took a selfie with him.

Landon didnโ€™t want to be photographed, but he couldnโ€™t move anyway. The only thing he could do was close his eyesโ€ฆ

โ€œAlright, let me help you wash your face.โ€

Amelia, content with her mischief, hummed a tune as she cleaned Landonโ€™s face with a warm towel.

The cream didnโ€™t budge easily, prompting her to apply a bit of cleanser and massage it in with circular motions from her gentle yet firm fingertips.

Once the cream on his face was washed off, Amelia went a step further and gave him a thorough facial cleansing, followed by applying a facial mask.

Landon resisted. โ€œIโ€™m a grown man. What do I need a mask for?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ll be even more handsome after using it.โ€

Amelia grinned, patting his cheek before returning to her routine of hand and foot masks.

This was the first time in his twenty-seven years that Landon had been pampered so meticulously.

Though he felt quite helpless, there was little he could do. Immobility left him with no other choice.

โ€œWell, weโ€™re synchronized. Itโ€™s so fun,โ€ Amelia remarked, her smile halting as she checked her phone.

Landon inquired, โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter?โ€

โ€œNothing to worry about.โ€ Amelia dismissed, tossing her phone aside and resuming her melodic humming. However, her mood had soured.

Landon pondered for a moment then asked, โ€œDid Zachary message you?โ€

โ€œWhat, do you possess X-ray vision?โ€ Amelia responded, startled.

She thought, โ€˜I can read his mind, so itโ€™s not strange that he has X-ray vision. But if soโ€ฆโ€™ Subconsciously, Amelia shielded her chest.

โ€œYouโ€™re so dramatic,โ€ Landon remarked, almost at a loss for words. โ€œDonโ€™t I know your petty affairs? Do I need X-ray vision?โ€

Amelia considered it for a moment, โ€˜It made sense.โ€™

Landon was so astute that, with his direct command over Aaron, he must have figured her out clearly.

โ€œYes, Zachary sent me a birthday wish,โ€ Amelia confessed, showing Landon her phone.

Zachary had filled his message with sweet nothings and transferred $17,000 to Amelia as proof of his sincerity. But Amelia didnโ€™t accept it.

Landon snorted coldly, โ€œWhy not blacklist him?โ€

โ€œI believe he still holds some value,โ€ Amelia stated.

โ€œWhat value could he possibly have?โ€ Landon scoffed.

Landon thought an insignificant individual like Zachary was nobody to him at all.

โ€œThe rising potential value of Stonefieldโ€™s land is internal information he obtained from Lunova,โ€ Amelia mused, โ€œheโ€™s still got a project in the worksโ€ฆโ€

Landonโ€™s eyes chilled. โ€˜The internal information got from Lunova?

It sounded real. How could the Foster family possess such capabilities?โ€

โ€œForget it, this project is still in its infancy. Iโ€™ll think about it by then,โ€ Amelia brushed it off with a wave of her hand.

Landon narrowed his eyes. โ€œYouโ€™re planning to start a business?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œWith secrets pilfered from Zachary?โ€

Amelia thought for a moment and shook her head. โ€œNot exactly.โ€

In her last life, after Stonefieldโ€™s land value skyrocketed to billions of dollars, both Zachary and the Edwards family reaped tens of millions of dollars in profits.

Melissa had only one daughter, Sandra, and everything in the Edwards family was Sandraโ€™s, so she invested all her money in Zachary, citing her status as his wife.

Zachary leveraged this billion-dollar asset to invest in another mine.

The abundant minerals brought even greater profits, and from then on, he steadily rose to prominence, earning the title of Noravaโ€™s Outstanding Young Entrepreneur.

Of course, in the end, all the wealth and glory flowed to Sandra.

In this life, Amelia aimed to cut Sandra off midway and claim the wealth for herself.

โ€œAmelia, blocking someoneโ€™s path to wealth is akin to killing them. You should think twice,โ€ Landon cautioned.

โ€œI know,โ€ Amelia smiled, not overly concerned.

Without his land in Stonefield, how could Zachary have the funds

Amelia was determined to seize the mine for herself.

to purchase a mine?

โ€œGet some rest. I have a company to run tomorrow,โ€ Amelia yawned and instinctively crawled into Landonโ€™s bed.

Suddenly, she felt something was off. In the past, Landon kept his eyes closed. As long as he remained silent, she could pretend he was asleep and unaware.

But now, things were differentโ€“he could see. She couldnโ€™t continue to snuggle into his arms right under his eyes, could she? How embarrassing would that be?

Moreover, she wore pajamas and often woke up with her clothes in disarray. Landon would see that if they still shared the bed.

โ€œItโ€™s your bed. Iโ€™ll sleep on the sofa,โ€ Amelia said, grabbing the quilt and heading toward the sofa.

Landonโ€™s expression darkened as he chuckled, โ€œWhat? Are you afraid Iโ€™ll look at your body?โ€

โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ Ameliaโ€™s cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

He guessed it again. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, I have no interest in a terrible woman like you,โ€ Landon scoffed.

Amelia felt a sharp sting at his words. She wondered, โ€˜Why did he say that? Am I really unattractive?โ€™

Amelia glanced down at herself, noting her curves and her slim waist.

โ€˜All the men Iโ€™ve met have said I have an angelโ€™s face and a perfect figure. Why does he think Iโ€™m terrible?โ€™

With her head held high, she challenged. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with me?โ€

Landon fought to suppress his desire and replied coldly, โ€œYouโ€™re so mediocre.โ€

โ€œYou!โ€ Ameliaโ€™s anger flared, she gritted her teeth and stamped her foot. โ€œYou just canโ€™t get me, so you say that.โ€

Landonโ€™s eyes narrowed, and his breathing grew heavier. โ€œWhat did you just say?โ€

Amelia suddenly realized she had misspoken. She stammered, โ€œI, Iโ€ฆIโ€™m going to bed.โ€

Quickly, Amelia lay down on the sofa, turning her back to him. Her heart raced wildly, like a mischievous deer bouncing around.

โ€˜Oh my, how could I say something like that? Thank goodness Landon canโ€™t move right now; otherwiseโ€ฆโ€™ Ameliaโ€™s ears burned, and she dared not think further.

โ€˜From now on, I must be careful with my words and avoid being ambiguous.โ€™

At Edwards Villa, Sandra had just made love with Zachary. She leaned on his chest and asked, โ€œZachary, hasnโ€™t Amelia replied to you?โ€

โ€œNo. Forget it.โ€ Zachary glanced at his phone.

Amelia neither collected the money nor responded to any messages. Zachary wondered if Amelia had seen his messages.

โ€œPerhaps Amelia went to bed early and missed the news.โ€ Sandra idly traced circles on Zacharyโ€™s chest with her delicate fingers. โ€œZachary, you canโ€™t give up.โ€

โ€œI understand.โ€

Zachary held Sandraโ€™s hand, his mind already forming alternative strategies.

Today, Amelia had purchased up to $100 million worth of Edwards Groupโ€™s debt.

She also declared that if the debt wasnโ€™t settled within three days, she would proceed to court.

Edwards Group was certainly not in a position to pay such a sum, which meant at least 70% of Edwards Groupโ€™s shares would likely belong to Amelia.

It meant that Amelia was poised to become the future leader of Edwards Group.

Moreover, she still possessed Stonefieldโ€™s land, and in three months, she was set to become a billionaire.

Amelia was now affluent, her worth far exceeding Sandraโ€™sโ€ฆ
