Chapter 369

โ€œLennon?โ€ Edithโ€™s eyes widened in delight.

But Danielโ€™s face fell, thinking, โ€˜We didnโ€™t even invite that kid. Whatโ€™s he doing here?โ€™

โ€œEdith, congratulations!โ€ Lennon grinned, handing the gift box over to Daniel.

It was a day for celebration, so Daniel couldnโ€™t make things awkward for a guest. He accepted the box with a forced smile, but to his surprise, it was so heavy that his hand nearly dropped.

Everyone turned to look, curious about what was inside the box.

โ€œWhatโ€™s this?โ€ Daniel finally asked, unable to hold back his curiosity.

The red silk box was small and square, but surprisingly heavy. โ€˜What on earth did he put in here?โ€™ Daniel wondered. โ€˜Is this kid here to stir up trouble?โ€™

โ€œGo ahead and open it, Daniel,โ€ Lennon said with a bright grin.

Standing among a bunch of adults all dealing with their messes, Lennon just seemed extra cheerful, like the best kind of sunshine: warm, bright, and full of hope.

Landon watched Lennon, feeling a bit embarrassed.

โ€˜Iโ€™ve never been that sunny my whole life,โ€™ Landon thought to himself.

He glanced at Tuff, who quietly turned his gaze away.

Tuff hadnโ€™t either.

He was raised in the Flying Tiger Sect, trained, and sent on missions. Too soon, he saw the harshness of reality, so how could he be bright?

โ€œLennon, Iโ€™m just so happy you came. And you even brought a gift,โ€ Edith said with a smile, stepping forward to talk to Lennon.

Maybe it was because Lennon had saved her when she needed it most and always stuck by her side, so, to Edith, he just felt like the younger brother who was always looking out for her.

โ€œEdith, this gift is from my master,โ€ Lennon explained.

Everyone blinked in confusion. โ€˜His master? Is he referring to his teacher? Who uses that term these days, and who is Lennonโ€™s master anyway?โ€™

Giving in to his curiosity, Daniel quickly untied the red silk and popped open the box.

Inside was a whole box of gold bars, so bright that it nearly blinded everyone.

โ€œWow!โ€ Even Amelia and Tuff, whoโ€™d seen their share of riches, were stunned, their eyes glued to the gold bars.

โ€œAre these real gold?โ€ Daniel asked.

โ€œYeah,โ€ Lennon beamed. โ€œAll from my master, for you and Edith.โ€

โ€œTwenty-seven pounds,โ€ Daniel said, shutting the lid, his expression suddenly serious.

It was not about how much these gold bars were worth. It was about the name โ€œDanielโ€ engraved on them.

It was his name.

His parents saved these gold bars for his wedding.

They set aside one pound of gold every year. By the time Daniel got married, he would have one pound every year of his age.

As a child, he even joked with his mother, โ€œSo, the older I get, the more gold I get. If I wait until Iโ€™m seventy, youโ€™ll have to hand over seventy pounds!โ€

After his mom โ€œpassed away,โ€ Daniel forgot all about it.

He never expected that, on his wedding day, the gift would show up just like theyโ€™d promised.

โ€˜Could Lennonโ€™s master be my father?โ€™ Daniel wondered.

โ€œLennon, youโ€™re way too generous. I really canโ€™t accept this,โ€ Edith said, clearly a bit shaken.

โ€œItโ€™s all right, Edith,โ€ Lennon replied with a bright smile, then turned to Daniel. โ€œDaniel, will you accept it?โ€

Edith looked at Daniel, thinking, โ€˜We can all afford twenty-seven pounds of gold, but is it okay to accept such an expensive gift?โ€™

โ€œIโ€™ll take it,โ€ Daniel said, his lips pressed into a tight line.

Landon and Amelia exchanged glances, both thinking, โ€˜He just got a fortune, so why does he look so down?โ€™

โ€œSo your last name is Zuckerberg, too?โ€ Daniel asked, fixing his gaze on Lennonโ€™s face.

โ€˜Is he Dadโ€™s another kid from a later marriage?โ€™ Daniel wondered. โ€˜But he doesnโ€™t look anything like anyone in our family.โ€™

โ€œI took my masterโ€™s last name, but the truth is, he just found me and took me in,โ€ Lennon grinned, clearly catching on to Danielโ€™s doubts.

Daniel let out a quiet breath of relief.

โ€˜Looks like Dad didnโ€™t lose his integrity late in life,โ€™ he thought.

โ€œYour masterโ€ฆ Where is he?โ€ Daniel asked, his heart pounding so hard he could barely breathe.

โ€œHe didnโ€™t come.โ€ Lennon shrugged.

Daniel couldnโ€™t tell if he felt relieved or disappointed.

Landon read the situation and smoothed things over. โ€œLennon, need a seat?โ€

โ€œNo need, I just wanna watch Edith get married. Iโ€™ll go with you guys.โ€ Lennon waved his hand, and as he said it, his forearm flashed, revealing a hint of muscle without even trying.

It was apparent that he worked out a lot.

Landon chuckled, giving Daniel a friendly pat on the shoulder. โ€œLucky you.โ€

Daniel suddenly understood, lowering his gaze.

His eyes grew red, but no one saw it.

โ€œDaniel, itโ€™s almost time,โ€ Tyler said, his voice soft and cautious.

Amelia choked back tears. โ€œDaniel, letโ€™s go!โ€

โ€œAlright.โ€ Daniel nodded.

He took a few quiet, deep breaths to steady himself.

The group escorted the bride in a grand procession to the banquet hall.

The esteemed crowd in attendance spoke volumes about the Zuckerberg familyโ€™s reputation and connections.

Maisie, acting as the maid of honor, stayed glued to Edithโ€™s side the entire time.

A pistol was strapped to her thigh beneath her evening gown, ready to fire at a momentโ€™s notice.

Tyler, oblivious to the danger lurking at his daughterโ€™s wedding, was sobbing his heart out. โ€œEdith, youโ€™re gonna be part of someone elseโ€™s family now. You must take care of yourselfโ€ฆโ€

Daniel felt his temples start to throb.

Edith also gave a helpless smile. โ€œDad, Iโ€™m going to be the lady of the house. My husband treats me well, so you donโ€™t have to worry.โ€

Tyler snuck another nervous glance at Daniel.

For a father-in-law to be this timid was quite rare.

Anyone who didnโ€™t know better would think Daniel was even bullying his father-in-law.

If it werenโ€™t for all the people watching, Daniel wouldโ€™ve given Tyler a piece of his mind.

โ€œTyler, please keep it together,โ€ Daniel gritted his teeth, trying to keep his cool.

But Tyler just shrank back even more, looking so scared that one could see it written all over his face.

Just then, the emcee jumped in with a cheerful smile, getting the ceremony back on track.

As the wedding march played, Edith walked down the aisle, Tyler by her side, toward Daniel.

Theyโ€™d been husband and wife for a while now, but today, it felt like they were newlyweds all over again, and they felt nervous and excited.

Edithโ€™s cheeks glowed with bashfulness, happiness written all over her face.

Amelia couldnโ€™t take her eyes off them.

Landon pulled her close and whispered, โ€œJealous?โ€

โ€œA little,โ€ she admitted.

โ€˜Turns out, love, or lack of it, is something you can see,โ€™ Amelia thought to herself.

When she married Zachary in her last life, she honestly believed she was happy.

But the truth was, his eyes never left the maid of honor, Sandra.

But Amelia hadnโ€™t even noticed it back then.

โ€˜Damn, I was so blind and dumb,โ€™ Amelia thought.

โ€œHoney, whatโ€™s on your mind?โ€ Landon asked, giving her a playful pinch on the waist.

Amelia whispered in alarm, โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€

โ€œOnce I quit, weโ€™ll have a real wedding,โ€ Landon said gently.

Ameliaโ€™s heart fluttered. โ€œYou donโ€™t have to. I donโ€™t care about that stuffโ€ฆโ€

โ€œBut I do,โ€ Landon said, looking at her with that deep, loving gaze.

Amelia looked at him, lost for words.

โ€œHoney, Iโ€™ve brought up the wedding so many times. Why do you always turn me down?โ€ Landon said, sounding genuinely aggrieved.

Amelia rolled her eyes, torn between amusement and annoyance.

She couldnโ€™t exactly tell him that sheโ€™d already had a wedding in her previous life, and honestly, it was the worst experience ever.

โ€œIโ€™m not turning you down. Itโ€™s just I feel like what youโ€™ve given me is already the best,โ€ Amelia said with a smile. โ€œBut if it makes you happy, letโ€™s do it.โ€

โ€œThen itโ€™s settled,โ€ Landon replied, his grin stretching wide. Watching the happy couple, he could picture himself up there with Amelia.

He was dead set on hosting the most epic, unforgettable wedding Norava had ever seen, one that would have the whole city buzzing!

โ€œBang!โ€ Out of nowhere, a gunshot shattered the wedding music, bringing everything to a screeching halt.

Then, the guests let out screams and scattered in panicโ€ฆ

Landon snapped back to reality in a split second, shoving Amelia under the table before vaulting onto the stage.

Maisie, pistol drawn, shielded Edith as they retreated through the panicked crowd. Tyler had collapsed onto the stage, legs so weak he couldnโ€™t even stand.
