Chapter 94

“Amelia, are you out of your mind? We’re at a hospital.” Zachary’s surprise quickly turned to laughter. Everyone in Norava knew about his injury, and some even started to follow his recovery journey online.

Even if she was Landon’s wife, she didn’t have the power to pull strings like that. And besides, she wouldn’t be in that position much longer.

“Zachary, you put me on an operating table when I was healthy, and you had someone force Sandra to abort her baby. So why can’t I do the same to you?” Amelia’s voice was cold while her gaze was firm. She didn’t raise her voice, but that didn’t diminish the power her words carried.

Zachary was stunned for a moment. “I–I dare you.”

“You want to find out?” Amelia scoffed, her fingers flying over her phone with a quiet precision.

Zachary shifted nervously in his bed, only to wince as the movement pulled at his injury. “Amelia, who the hell do you think you are? Do you really think you can control how the hospital runs?”

“No,” Amelia replied without looking up. “But I have other ways to go about this.”

“Other ways?” Zachary didn’t buy it. He thought she must be bluffing and trying to scare him.

“You’ll see in a minute,” Amelia said, setting her phone down. Just then, a nurse walked in. “Mr. Foster, it’s time to prepay your medical expenses.”

“Don’t bother me with this petty stuff,” Zachary snapped. Foster Group covered his medical expenses, and he shouldn’t have to deal with this.

“But you’ve used up everything you paid previously. Foster Group has refused to process the payment,” the nurse repeated, and Zachary’s face drained of color.

He stared at Amelia suspiciously and quickly dialed home. “Mom, what’s the issue with my medical expenses?”

“Oh dear, what do we do now?” Pamela’s frantic voice came through the phone.

Zachary’s heart sank. He could feel something was wrong. “Mom? What’s going on?” he demanded.

“It’s your father. He’s so mean to us that he froze all our accounts and grounded me. He forbids anyone from sending money to you, too. Zachary, Matthew is back, and he’s behind all of this.” Pamela kept talking.

But Zachary couldn’t process her words anymore. He just knew, deep down, that it was over for him.

To the outside world, he was the golden child of the Foster family, but in reality, his father controlled all the money, only giving him a small amount of allowance every month.

He’d saved up a little, but he spent most of it trying to keep up with Elizabeth. As for the remaining amount, Sandra took it all away.

Now that the company had stopped providing funds for him, he couldn’t even pay for his medical bills. The shame of it all was crushing.

“How do you feel now, Zachary?” Amelia asked with a cold grin, clearly enjoying his discomfort.

“Amelia.” Zachary’s eyes burned with anger as he looked at her. “You did this, didn’t you? You’ve been working with Matthew all along, ha…?”

“Yes,” Amelia admitted with a satisfied smile.

On the way back to Norava, she had sent a message to Matthew. She said she could help him take control of the Foster family, and in return, he would help her deal with Zachary.

Matthew sure didn’t disappoint her. Within hours, he had tightened his grip on Zachary’s finances. The boy who had been so considerate to Amelia in the previous life was now revealing his ruthless side.

Chapter 94

“Amelia, you bitch,” Zachary cursed in rage. “Ruining me wasn’t enough for you, was it? You want to crush me now?”

“You’d better make sure William stays alive,” Amelia said coldly. “If anything happens to him, you and your mother will regret it.”

Zachary’s face turned pale, his disbelief turning into fear. “You’re out for my mother too?”

“That all depends on you,” Amelia said, shrugging with a sense of indifference.

She hated Pamela too, but after everything that happened to her in her past life, the petty family drama seemed trivial in comparison, so she didn’t let it bother her.

But this time, what Zachary did to William pushed her over the edge. She had to save William by any means necessary.

“Let’s be honest, Amelia. It’s your status as Mrs. Kingsley that you’re counting on, isn’t it? Even if Landon is in a coma, the Kingsley family will never let you get too close to another man. I’ll call them right now and expose your affair with Matthew,” Zachary said.

Suddenly, Brooke lunged and knocked Zachary’s phone to the floor.

Zachary, already injured and struggling to move, felt completely vulnerable. Without his phone, he was a sitting duck in frustration, but powerless to do anything. “Amelia, I never thought you could be so ruthless.”

“I’m no match for you,” Amelia said coldly. “But if you want to keep playing, I’ll be more than happy to learn your tricks.”

She only had to wait two more days; then Zachary’s condition would spiral out of control. She was confident he couldn’t afford to gamble with his life.

“Amelia.” Zachary’s head throbbed. The pain in his injury flared up, and it felt worse than before. In a panic, he pulled the covers off. “I–I’m bleeding again.”

He had just managed to get it back in place, and now he feared it would fall apart again. He screamed for them to get a doctor for him, but no one responded.

Zachary reached for the emergency button, but Brooke quickly ripped it out of the wall. Now, he was completely isolated, with no one to help him.

“How does this feel?” Amelia asked coldly as she stepped closer to the bed and stared at him emotionlessly. “Are you scared? I was terrified when you put me under the knife.”

Zachary finally understood that this was her revenge for what he’d done. No matter how much he tried to explain, she never believed him.

The tables had turned. He had once sent a healthy Amelia to the operating room, and now he was the one in this goddamn situation. Karma had caught up with him.

The pain in Zachary’s lower body grew unbearable, and he panicked. “Amy, please. Just call a doctor for me. Please,” he begged.

“When I escaped from the operating table, you were still chasing me, determined to cut off my left breast. Don’t you remember? Zachary, you’re the most heartless person in the world,” she said.

“Amy, I was wrong. I know what I did wrong now.” Zachary begged desperately, but not once did he use William as a bargaining chip.

Amelia was done with him, seeing that he still wouldn’t break, even now. “You’ll get to see the doctor when I see William,” she said, casually checking her phone as she sat back on the couch.

This time, she had him cornered. This was all thanks to Sandra, who took care of his precious gem down there for good.

“Amy, what you’re doing is illegal. I can sue you for this.” Zachary, failing to beg for mercy, resorted to threatening her. Amelia shrugged indifferently. “It’s your family that isn’t paying your medical bills, not me. What does it have to do with me?” “Y–You’re keeping me here against my will. You won’t let me see a doctor,” Zachary said.

Chapter 94

“At most, what I’m doing is obstruction of treatment, and you’ll get some money for that. The Kingsley family’s not lacking in cash, but you lack what makes you a man,” Amelia retorted.

Zachary had nothing left to say. He wasn’t severely injured, and at worst, she’d be charged with obstruction of his treatment. But no amount of money would fix his shattered life. He’d lost this bargaining game.

“I–I’ll tell you,” Zachary whispered, lowering his head in defeat.

Amelia and Brooke exchanged a knowing glance and slowly smiled. This time, her smile was warm, like the sun breaking through the clouds.

“William is…” Before he could complete his sentence, a bullet shot through the window, striking Zachary right on his forehead.
