Chapter 5

Lauren nodded and got into the RV. In addition to cosmetics and styling products, there were two spare dresses, both from the YM brand. Lauren, a major YM shareholder and the backbone of the R&D department, enjoyed considerable privileges.

Sitting down, Lauren closed her eyes and said, "Let's go to the Bennett family's house."

The RV started smoothly, and the makeup artist and stylist began working. The assistant, sitting in the co-pilot seat, turned around and asked, "Lauren, do you need a personal assistant?"

In the past, Lauren had spent most of her days in the laboratory, with little social life. However, now that she had returned to the Bennett family, she considered having an assistant to handle trivial matters.

"I'm okay with that," Lauren said.

She hadn't returned to the Bennett family for personal gain, but for her grandfather. However, Sally's repeated harassment had crossed a line. Lauren loathed plots and hypocrisy above all else!

Wendy's intentions were obvious: to make Lauren late for the dinner party or to have photos taken of her on the subway. Coldness flickered in Lauren's eyes. Let's wait and see, she thought.

Monica was frantic because the reporters hadn't seen Lauren on the subway. She called Wendy, asking, "Did she go to the subway?"

Wendy, still negotiating with the insurance company, was startled. "Yes, I saw her get into the elevator. What's wrong?"

"The reporters said they didn't find her, even though they were guarding the elevator entrance," Monica said anxiously. Wendy, equally confused and anxious, replied, "Could she have changed clothes so they didn't recognize her?"

"Impossible!" Monica exclaimed. "I showed them her photos; they all know what she looks like." While Monica wanted to embarrass Lauren, she didn't want her to disappear. If the Bennett family discovered this, she would be in serious trouble!

The Bennett family's power was significant. If they investigated, they would uncover Monica and Wendy's involvement. This would reflect badly on Sally; it would appear she had tried to frame Lauren.
