Chapter 52

On the way back, Lauren was absentminded. Kelly, who was driving, quietly glanced at Lauren through the rearview mirror and thought, “Lauren looks great, even though she's just thinking.”

Kelly couldn't help repeatedly glancing at Lauren. On her third peek, Lauren turned and said, "Keep focused."

"I'm sorry," Kelly replied, straightening up.

Lauren had left Leo around four o'clock that afternoon. Because his house was far from her college, the drive would take a long time. She leaned back, lowered her head, and looked at the jade cat pendant Leo had given her. She was familiar with it, but strangely, she couldn't remember where she'd seen it before. She also examined the blue bead inscribed with the name "KITTY."

She'd had a cat named Kitty as a child. Lauren closed her eyes, pondering the Frank family's apparent connection to her, but she couldn't recall anything. After a while, a headache returned, so she pressed her temples and stopped thinking.

Noticing Lauren's expression, Kelly glanced at her. At that moment, she bumped into a Land Rover ahead. Fortunately, both cars were traveling slowly, preventing major damage.

Kelly immediately braked and got out to assess the accident.

"Hey! Do you know how to drive? Where are your eyes?" A beautiful, buxom woman emerged from the Land Rover, her tone aggressive.

Kelly remained calm. Although young, her selection as Lauren's assistant from numerous candidates demonstrated her competence. After exiting the car and closing the door to avoid disturbing Lauren, she said to the woman, "It was your fault. Don't you know that?" The other car had illegally changed lanes.

The woman patted her car, saying, "See? You rear-ended me!"

"Rear-ended?" Kelly scoffed. "You're talking nonsense."

"Nonsense? It was your fault," the woman retorted, eyeing Kelly and then the Bentley behind her. The expensive car contrasted with Kelly's lack of designer clothing, leading the woman to assume Kelly was not the owner, but perhaps a mistress.
