Chapter 102

Nathaniel was surprised by Eloise's call, but he had no reason to refuse her help. He only wished for Frank to solve his company's problems and ensure their success. When they picked Frank up that night, Melanie's attitude toward him changed completely. Earlier, she had been unsure if he was a genuine perfumer or a conman, but Eloise's endorsement reassured her. Eloise belonged to Emerald City's elite social circle, frequented by the rich and powerful. Melanie was confident Frank could help them because of his high-level connections.

"Mr. Moreau, we're glad you're here to help!" Melanie offered him a drink.

She wore a maroon, strapless dress, close in color to the bottle of wine. Frank remained unaffected by their attempts to curry favor. "Ms. Neville helped me, and it's my turn to reciprocate. I'll fulfill my promise."

Nathaniel nodded quickly. "Yes, I'm sure this is a piece of cake for you, Mr. Moreau. We appreciate your help!"

Frank took a sip of wine and looked up slowly, his gaze fixed on Melanie's face, scanning her features from forehead to nose, lips, and chin.

Nathaniel disliked Frank's behavior but refrained from reacting, given Frank's identity and purpose.

"You're a perfumer, too?" Frank asked.

Melanie was stunned before nodding quickly. "Yes! We're in the same industry, but I can't compare to you. You're the master; I'm an amateur."

She tried to be humble and engaging.

"Didn't you win several awards and create popular perfumes?" Frank asked indifferently, picking up his wineglass.

Melanie was unsure what he wanted. She glanced at Nathaniel, who looked equally confused. "I just got lucky. I still have much to learn, and I hope to learn from you," she answered.

"Lucky?" Frank laughed, his tone mocking. "In this field, some are talented, some hardworking, some are given opportunities—but none get lucky!" "Well" Melanie stammered, unsure what to say.

"You're an experienced perfumer, yet you can't differentiate the differences in the formula?"

Frank's sharp words and judging gaze made Melanie uncomfortable and anxious. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

Biting her lip, she said, "Mr. Moreau, it's not that I can't differentiate it, but Lily is just too cunning!"
