Chapter 107

Although marketed as new, the original formulas were unchanged; at most, the ratios were adjusted. They were nothing new, which disappointed Lily; she had hoped for an unexpected discovery. It was simply a matter of luck.

"If discovering something were so easy," Alexander said, pulling her into his arms, "everyone would be a top perfumer. Have you eaten?"

"Yes," Lily replied. Seeing the look in his eyes, she quickly added, "I didn't go to the kitchen. I left work early and ate out."

"Why didn't you wait for me?" he asked, his eyes narrowed, his tone tinged with sadness.

"I was hungry," Lily said. It was a small thing, but it felt like a misstep. She glanced at him, then reached for her phone to order. "You haven't eaten? Shall we order takeout?"

"I don't want takeout. Let's go out to dinner!"

"I've already eaten!"

"Then you can keep me company while I eat!" Alexander said with a smug smile. Lily, unable to refuse, went with him.

Before leaving, Lily intended to simply watch him eat. However, the enticing aroma of the food tempted her. She devoured a third plate of wagyu steak, finding it delicious.

Alexander sipped his wine and ate delicately, watching her feast. He seemed more like the one who had already eaten and was merely keeping her company.

"Another plate?" he asked thoughtfully.

"No, no more! I can't eat another bite! I'll die!" Lily exclaimed, waving her hand.

"Perhaps some yogurt to aid digestion?" Alexander asked, raising an eyebrow, his tone laced with amusement. "Have I offended you? You could have told me directly. Why this cruel method of killing me?" Lily clutched her bulging stomach. She had definitely overeaten.

"If I recall correctly," Alexander said, putting down his fork, "I merely asked for your company while I ate. A certain someone couldn't control their mouth. Is that my fault?"

It was true she had overindulged, but if he hadn't taken her to that new restaurant, she wouldn't have been tempted by the aroma. She was certain of this, so she replied, "Of course, it's your fault!"

Alexander nodded thoughtfully. "I see. Is it also my fault that you're going on a business trip without telling me?"

"Of course…" Lily stammered, staring at him. "How did you know?"
