Saturday arrived swiftly. Ralph awoke early, donned his crisply pressed suit, meticulously combed his hair, and liberally applied cologne. This was a pivotal moment; a new life awaited.

The family elders wouldn't arrive for some time. His greatest concern was his mother, Margaret. Though she'd agreed to his plan, his anxiety wouldn't subside until it concluded.

He prepared her breakfast, delivering it personally. He knocked on her door.

"What is it?" Margaret's sleepy voice came from within.

"Mom, it's me. I brought you breakfast," Ralph said eagerly.

"Leave it downstairs; I'll eat later," she replied.

"It's too much trouble for you. I'm already here. Please open the door?" Pausing, he added, "I also want to talk to you."

Silence, then the door opened. Margaret stood calmly. "What do you want to say?"

"Mom, let me in first, right?" He smiled, entering and placing the breakfast on the table. Margaret's large bedroom felt sparsely furnished. She shook her head and retreated to her vanity.

"To be this obedient, you must want something again!" she said, continuing her skincare routine.

Ralph laughed awkwardly. "No, Mom. I'm just showing filial piety."

Margaret smiled indulgently. "You're so good at sweet-talking."

Seeing her smile, Ralph felt her return to her former self. "You love my sweet talk the most, right? Only I can make you happy!" Margaret sighed, her smile slowly fading.

Ralph felt a surge of nervousness. He couldn't fully grasp her recent moods, but couldn't afford mistakes today. "You can enjoy a peaceful retirement, no longer worrying about my future. Today's meeting is straightforward, Mom. Your help ensures my success."

"Are you sure?" Margaret slowly sat, combing her hair.

"Of course! I have the DNA report!" Ralph spotted the folder she'd placed on the desk โ€“ containing the fabricated report. "It doesn't matter if he admits it; we have the report and your testimony. You're Russell's grandmother, the most authoritative voice. Everyone will believe you!"

He desperately needed her testimony. With Margaret's confirmation and the fake report, he could prove Alexander's lack of blood relation to the Russell family, convincing the elders to remove him from the family tree.
