Chapter 113

Welcomes were arranged upon the plane's arrival. Nathaniel handled everything on Melanie's behalf, including pre-booking the hotel. Although Melanie stood by her car, she lingered to watch Lily's arrival.

Even though La Beautรฉ Group backed Rebirth, it remained a minor subsidiary, dwarfed by MN Inc. Yet, they seemed determined to affect an air of superiority, traveling in first class.

"Ms. Thayer?" her driver inquired, noticing her hesitation.

"Yes," Melanie replied, but just as she was about to enter the car, she saw her target.

Lily and Jenny emerged leisurely, pulling their suitcases behind them. Thenโ€”

A Rolls-Royce!

Unmistakable. While she couldn't identify the exact model, its extravagance was undeniable.

Her gaze fixed on Lily and Jenny as they approached. No way, Melanie thought, it's just a coincidence. There's no way that car's here for them! She gripped her car door, watching as their luggage was loaded into the Rolls-Royce's trunk. Lily then got in and drove away.

The deception was over. It had happened.

How could Lily be riding in that car? Melanie fumed. How could she deserve it? A Rolls-Royce, while I'm stuck in an old Mercedes-Benz? She turned to look at her own car, the initial pleasure replaced by misery.

"Everyone's gone. Get in," Frank said from inside the car.

Melanie silently and reluctantly obeyed, feeling wretched. Lily, she felt, was her nemesis. Any interaction with her seemed to derail Melanie's plans and sour her mood.

Frank remained impassive as Melanie openly displayed her distress during the drive, a fact he clearly observed. She no longer felt the need to hide her feelings.

"Mr. Moreau," she said directly, "with your status and wealth, you should have the best, right? With an arrangement like ours, don't you feel undervalued?"

Frank understood perfectly. He smiled wryly. "Indeed! It's a bit shabby."

She looked up at the car, his faint smile making her blush.

"It doesn't matter. I pay little attention to it. However, I wasn't satisfied with the hotel. I upgraded my room."

"The presidential suite?" Melanie pressed.

He shrugged. "I only upgraded mine, so your room might not be on the same floor, Mel."

Melanie remained silent. Upon arrival, their room keys confirmed the difference in floors, and the receptionists' enthusiastic welcome for Frank only deepened Melanie's depression.
