Chapter 1316
With Alexander's cooperation, Lily invited Anastasia for the following day. Lily preferred Anastasia visit her home; Anastasia disliked public places and the accompanying attention. Furthermore, Lily's house offered a more relaxed atmosphere. Anastasia's home was unsuitable; her father, Secretary Cameron Rollins, might disrupt the planned treatment.
"That's right! Anastasia requires treatment. I believe her obesity stems from both psychological and physiological issues."
To assess Anastasia's condition, Lily needed to take her pulse. However, Lily wished to remain discreet, even concealing her apprenticeship under Dominic from Alexander. To Lily, her connection with Dominic held no special significance; she had simply learned from a skilled expert, knowledge she found useful. Coincidentally, this expert was renowned, and people were fascinated by his "last apprentice." Without that title, Lily knew her identity would hold little interest; their fascination was solely with her association with her teacher.
Anastasia arrived slightly late, bearing a pot of lily of the valley. Anticipating Lily's preferences, she had sought out these prized plants. Lily appreciated the gesture but expressed concern about the potential accumulation of gifts. "Ms. Rollins, I wouldn't dare invite you if you bring gifts every time," Lily laughed, approaching her guest.
"It's nothing, and what matters is that you like it. I'm not into plants, but I have many of them." Anastasia paused at the doorway, appearing fatigued. She had been unwell recently, experiencing weakness and excessive drowsiness. This was one of her better days; she had even requested the dress from Lily. "But if you gave me a pot every three or five days, my house wouldn't be able to fit them all," Lily said casually, taking Anastasia's hand, noticing her weariness.
"Every three or five days?"
Anastasia grasped the implication but couldn't quite articulate it. "Why would I give one every three or five days?"
Lily ushered her inside, seated her on the sofa, and offered her tea. "Because I'll be inviting you over often in the future. If you bring a gift each time, won't you bring me a pot of plants every three or five days?"
Anastasia was surprised; she had assumed this was a one-time invitation. After a moment's pause, she said sadly, "Then I might have to disappoint you. I won't be coming here often. I don't go out often, and I don't enjoy it."
She only made this visit due to her connection with Lily. She actively avoided family gatherings to escape their incessant gossip. While they showed her outward respect, she felt their judging stares and overheard their whispers. The experience was upsetting, prompting her avoidance of such events.
