Chapter 134

Lily questioned Jenny silently, but Jenny, her full attention on the call, wasn't looking at her. Jenny nodded. "Okay, I understand. Don't worry! I'm coming right over!"

After hanging up, Lily asked, "What's wrong? Do you need to be somewhere?"

"Yeah, they bought a new batch of ingredients, and I need to check on them," Jenny replied apologetically.

"Then I'll come with you," Lily offered.

"There's no need. The staff told me to go without you," Jenny shook her head, worried Lily might misinterpret. "It's not that they don't trust you. It's probably not the company, but the client. We sometimes have clients with bizarre rules. They're asking for me, and our driver will be with me. I'll probably just look at some things and sign a few papers; it won't take long."

"Sure, no problem. I'm just worried because you're going alone, and it's late," Lily replied.

"What's to worry about, you silly girl?" Jenny gently patted Lily's head. "This isn't my first rodeo. Besides, I've always traveled alone for business; this is the first time someone's been assigned to accompany me. I find it cute that you're acting like an overprotective big sister, but you don't have to worry. I'll be fine."

"Okay then. Make sure your phone doesn't die so you can call me if you need anything. Just be careful," Lily urged. "You don't know who you might meet."

"Okay, okay," Jenny said, handing Lily the room key. "Go rest. We've had a long day. We have more sightseeing tomorrow!"

Lily took the key and exited the car at the lobby. She waited until it left before going inside. Since Jenny had more experience with these trips, Lily felt confident she'd be fine. Besides, it was part of her job. What could go wrong?

Lily took the elevator to their room. She was about to turn on the lights after scanning her key card when someone hugged her from behind.

"Who's there?!" Lily shouted, lifting her heel to stomp and swinging her elbow. The man behind her was quicker, avoiding her attack.

"Lily!" he yelled. Lily relaxed, recognizing his voice—the voice she'd missed dearly. She softened the blow, saying, "A-Alex? W-What are you doing here?" She stared, wondering if he was a hallucination.

"I've missed you," Alexander said, circling his arms around her waist and pulling her close. He led her into the suite and turned on the lights. Seeing her delight, he felt a wave of happiness. He smiled, knowing she was glad to see him.

Unexpectedly, Lily wrapped her arms around his neck, pulled him closer, and whispered, "I've missed you too." Then she kissed him. Alexander's eyebrows shot up in surprise. He was astonished by her open affection—a dream come true. Recovering from his shock, he kissed her back passionately.
