Chapter 143
Alexander kissed and hugged Lily, but paused before the final step. He sighed, reluctantly, but his hand remained at her waist, squeezing gently. "I'm willing," he said. "I am, and I won't regret it." Lily embraced him, confessing, "I know." Seeing her determination in her eyes, Alexander believed her. He hugged her tightly, kissing her hair.
"Why aren't you continuing?" Lily asked, confused.
"I want it to happen properly," Alexander sighed softly, leaning on her. She was precious to him; he wanted to be careful and treat her right.
Lily's head remained nestled under his chin as she put her arms around him. "I don't mind," she murmured. In the end, it was the person who mattered most; everything else was irrelevant. Alexander understood and appreciated her sentiment. He continued to hug her as they lay down on the bed.
"Go to sleep," Alexander said, looking into her eyes.
Lily's eyes remained wide open as she gazed at him. Then, she leaned over and kissed him.
Alexander could hardly contain himself, staring at his beloved nestled in his arms on the plush bed. Her soft lips—she was everything he wanted.
"It doesn't matter whether you're rich or poor," he whispered, "as long as you have me in your heart. Only me!"
"Yes, this is my choice!" Lily exclaimed, pulling him down by his neck. Tilting her head, she parted her rosy lips, revealing her white teeth, then playfully bit his Adam's apple.
It was still dark when Lily awoke. She looked at the dawning sky and the clock. A sigh of relief escaped her lips when she saw it was only four o'clock in the morning.
A thought struck her, and she turned to look at the sleeping Alexander. His eyes were closed, but his face, even in profile, was handsome.
However, she couldn't be too greedy. Last night had beenintense. She didn't know where she'd found the courage to be so bold. She had taken the initiative, but had no regrets.
Jenny was still in the other room. If she found Lily missing… Realizing this, Lily got up to dress quietly, careful not to disturb Alexander.
"Are you leaving?" he murmured, his eyes fixed on her back. Despite her quiet movements, Alexander had noticed and opened his eyes. Lily startled, nodded, and replied, "I need to go back. Jenny should be waking up soon."
