Chapter 1441
When Daisy knelt to wipe Galen's tender little face with a towel, he blinked at her, and she laughed. "What's the matter? Did you forget who I am after one night?"
"Daisy."
"Yeah?"
"Are you leaving?" Daisy fell silent. After a few seconds, she looked up at him gently. "Did your mother tell you that?"
"Yeah." Galen nodded. "Are you leaving?"
"Maybe!" After a moment, she said slowly, "Will you miss me?"
"Yes!" he exclaimed, nodding emphatically.
"Then, if I leave one day, you can't cry!" She tapped his nose and smiled.
"I won't cry!" He shook his head, remembering his mother's words. "Mommy said I'm a... little man!" He hesitated, struggling to recall the exact phrasing.
This made Daisy laugh. "Yes, you are a little man. You're a superhero! So, little man, can you get dressed on your own?"
"Yes!" He rushed from the bathroom to his clothes on the bed.
Watching him dress brought a gentle smile to Daisy's face, though her eyes dimmed. Galen, now in casual sportswear, looked handsome, though he still stumbled on his tiny feet as he descended the stairs. After a few steps, Daisy carried him to the dining table.
"We'll eat breakfast first, and Mummy will take you out afterward," Lily said, glancing at him.
His interest piqued. "Where are we going?"
"We're going out to play!" She glanced at Daisy. "Galen and I will be out all day. I'll give you the day off. You can do whatever you want. I've arranged a driver if you need a car."
"No, it's fine, madam. I'm not going anywhere," Daisy replied quickly.
"That's your choice." Lily offered no further persuasion; she simply wanted to let Daisy know. Turning to Galen, she said, "Slow down. We'll leave once you're finished eating."
Mother and son ate breakfast quietly while Daisy stood aside for a moment before silently leaving. After breakfast, Lily took Galen out. She was driving, and Galen, in a child's car seat, kicked his feet leisurely.
"Are we going to Grandpa's house?"
Lily froze, fastening her seatbelt and looking in the rearview mirror. "How do you know we're going to Grandpa's house?" She hadn't mentioned it.
He turned his head casually. "You're driving."
Lily was surprised. It was true. Whenever she went to Dominic's, especially with Galen, she drove herself, rather than using a driver. She hadn't expected such keen observation from her young son.
