Chapter 1476
Dominic sounded distressed, leaving Lily puzzled. "Austin? What's wrong with him?"
"Nothing's wrong! He's fine! He hung up on me and hasn't answered his phone for two days!" Dominic's cheeks puffed in frustration. Galen, finding this amusing, began pinching them.
"Hey! You little brat! Don't be heartless like your mommy! Hey, hey, not my beard!" Dominic protested, playfully wrestling with the boy.
Lily, however, felt something was amiss. She knew Austin's character, despite limited personal acquaintance. Austin was subservient to Dominic. His hanging up and ignoring calls was uncharacteristic.
"Old man, why would Austin hang up on you? Were you fighting?" Lily asked thoughtfully.
"Hell no! He stormed off last time and hasn't returned. I thought something was wrong at the lab and wanted to warn him against being manipulated. He said nothing, just hung up! Isn't that disrespectful?" Dominic's anger flared. He wanted to give Austin a thrashing.
"He didn't say a word? What did you say to him?" Lily's suspicions deepened.
"Nothing, of course!" Dominic retorted indignantly. "Why should I apologize? I expected him to! Who knew he'd hang up instead?" Lily was speechless.
The old man expected an apology first? Something's definitely wrong. Austin wouldn't resent Dominic for the last incident, nor would he wait for an apology. After all this time, Austin knew Dominic's nature. If Austin were so petty, he wouldn't have repeatedly visited and given gifts despite being scolded.
"So, you said nothing, and he hung up?" Lily considered carefully. "Don't you think something's wrong?"
Pouting at Galen, Dominic glanced at Lily. "What are you talking about? That asshole's gotten high and mighty, that's all!"
Lily, knowing Dominic's upset state, didn't contradict him directly. "Think about it. You watched him grow up, didn't you?"
"Hell no," he denied immediately.
"Even if you didn't, he's been around you for years. You should know his character," Lily persisted.
"I don't!" Dominic stubbornly retorted.
Lily's patience waning, she glared at him. "Can you stop interrupting me?"
Dominic pouted but remained silent. Lily continued, "Is Austin the type to stop coming here just because of your words? Would he give up being the miracle doctor's apprentice? Even if furious and wanting to sever ties, wouldn't he scold you first, after all your years of yelling at him?"
