Chapter 1526

When Cameron returned home to collect his belongings, he saw a car parked askew by the gate and frowned. Fabian emerged, jogging over as Cameron's car approached, flashing his usual ingratiating grin.

"Ron, Ron..."

Though impatient, Cameron lowered his window. "What's the matter?"

"I'm sorry about what happened to Tasia. It's Ree's fault, and I've already scolded her! I wanted her to apologize, but she's been busy the past two days. Anyway, don't worry. I'll teach her a lesson. Is Tasia alright?"

"She's fine," Cameron replied coldly. "Anything else?"

Emboldened by the question, Fabian said, "About the vaccine development center..."

"I only discuss work in my office," Cameron cut him off.

"But I can't even get to your office! I've been stopped several times. Ron, don't do this to me. I'm your wife's only brother!" Fabian pleaded, bending over, affecting an air of mistreatment to remind Cameron of their familial connection.

Cameron coldly replied, "You remember you're my wife's brother, huh? Then stop causing trouble!"

"When have I caused trouble? I want to contribute. The vaccine center benefits the country. Success there would reflect well on you, too. Besides, didn't you promise me..." Fabian's voice trailed off. He was angry but suppressed it, fearing irreparable damage to their relationship. The failed tender had left him vulnerable; those CEOs once friendly now pressed him for debts. His only hope lay in Cameron's help.

"When did I promise you?" Cameron's impatience flared, his tone sharp. "Fabian, can't you focus on legitimate efforts instead of dishonest ones?"

"I'm trying to run my business! What's dishonest about that? Ron, you promised me that day! You told me to do my job well and said I'd handle the project during the tender, but you broke your promise! Did the Russell family bribe you? Did they pay you? How much? Name a price, and I'll find it!" Fabian's anger erupted, his humility dissolving. He straightened, his temper unleashed.

"What a load of nonsense!" Cameron snapped. "Stop spouting such absurdities! Do you even know what you're saying?"

"Fine!" Fabian declared, throwing caution to the wind. "Ron, stop pretending! I always thought you were incorruptible, but I was wrong. If La Beautรฉ Group didn't bribe you, why did you give them the project? Alexander didn't even attend the tender, and rumors say he's dead. Giving them the contract is pointless. You took a bribe, didn't you?"

"Shut your mouth!" Cameron roared.

He's spouting nonsense; if someone heard this, it would cause a scandal. It's baseless slander. If not for my late wife, I wouldn't waste my breath.

However, Cameron's reaction convinced Fabian that his accusations were true, emboldening him further.
