Chapter 1532
She wasn't sure how effective the new product she'd developed was. She treasured it, both for her hard work and because she doubted its stability and efficacy. Her boss, however, knew about it and wanted her to use it on Cameron, making her uneasy.
"What's wrong? Getting softhearted?" he laughed mockingly. "I always thought you were ruthless."
"I'm not softhearted," she replied. "I'm just reluctant to use something I've just finished."
"If you can make one vial, what's stopping you from making more? Once Cameron is under your control and the vaccine project is complete, you'll have a vast lab and limitless funds. You won't care about this tiny bottle." He paused, fearing her hesitation. "Mike wasn't exaggerating. We might not stay here long. I'll need a new location. Do you plan to stay or go abroad? Your parents are going bankrupt; you don't need to worry about them."
Rhea lowered her head. "I understand." She took two steps back, then left when he didn't turn around.
After visiting Dominic, Lily was restless. Though late, the events of the past few days kept her awake. She lay on her empty bed for two hours, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep. Finally, she checked her phone. It was 2:00 AM, and there was still no news from Alexander. Since their last call, he hadn't contacted her. They'd lost contact again.

Around 5:00 AM, her phone rang. She recognized the unfamiliar number and answered decisively.
"Hello?"
"Cough, cough, cough..."
Violent coughing filled the line, instantly worrying Lily. She recognized Alexander.
"What's wrong? Are you okay? Did something happen?" she asked anxiously.
"I'm fine," he said after a few more coughs, calming down. "I'm just calling to say you don't need to come."
Lily was furious. "We agreed! You can't change your mind! I'm about to leave. I have to see you today!"
Alexander sighed. "Listen, I feel much better. I'll go home in two days. You don't need to come."
"I can't do that. I'm not a visionary; I'm a woman who wants to see her husband!"
He fell silent, then sighed again. "I'm really fine. Don't worry. My cough is bad, but my strength is returning. I know my own body. And those messages you sentโฆ what happened?"
"So much is happening!" Lily exclaimed. "I can't tell you over the phone. I'll tell you when I see you! Iโ"
