Lily was surprised. "Looks like there are people who think likewise!"

Dominic coughed. "You've arrived at the perfect time. These two gentlemen are whom I want you to meet."

Catching herself, Lily quickly joined him. "This is Dr. Blanc, the chief physician, and Dr. Morris from the National X Department," Dominic said, gesturing to introduce them. "They're experienced doctors and virology experts."

Lily was bewildered. X Department? What kind of department is that? I've never even heard of it! Is there an X Department in our country? And what does this have to do with me?

Dr. Blanc, the older man, spoke first. Their attire was a stark contrast: Dominic in a jacket over a loose T-shirt and shorts, while the others wore hazmat suits.

Dominic cleared his throat. "Let me introduce everyone. I've already told you who they are, so I'll let them explain their department's work. This is my last apprentice, Lily—I'm very proud of her. Lily, have a chat with these experts."

Lily was stunned. Dominic actually revealed my identity! She stared at him in disbelief. They had both kept her identity secret, yet he chose to reveal it now. Does this mean these men have unusual backgrounds? Feeling guilty, Dominic averted his gaze and waved dismissively.

Never mind, she thought, turning to the experts. "May I ask why you're here?"

"Since you're Dominic's last apprentice and represent him, I'll be frank," Dr. Blanc said immediately. "Are you aware of the pandemic in Burnwken?"

Lily was alarmed. This, coupled with Alexander's recent transfer to a Kingsland hospital, made her suspicious. "Of course, I've heard about it. Why do you ask?"

"Have you done any research on the pandemic?" Dr. Morris, the younger doctor, asked more gently.

"No," Lily denied. "I haven't had contact with the virus, so how could I? Why do you want to know?"

"Mainstream medicine views the pandemic as viral," Dr. Morris explained. "We'd like to understand the herbal medicine approach. Perhaps a combined approach could lead to breakthroughs."

Lily was surprised. So they're here to ask me to join their research?
