Chapter 1643

"It's too late..."

The man arguing with Lily rushed toward Debbie, but Lily restrained him. He struggled, but her petite frame held him surprisingly firm. "What are you doing?! Save the child!" he exclaimed.

"No infusion!" Lily insisted. She forcefully shrugged off his grasp, sending him stumbling backward. Her sudden outburst and commanding demeanor silenced the room.

Dr. Blanc stepped forward, meeting her gaze. "A life is at stake!"

"I know!" Lily replied firmly. "Dr. Blanc, please trust me! Give Debbie a chance. You'll see! I understand this virus; the infusion will only strengthen it."

A colleague protested indignantly, but Dr. Blanc silenced him, his eyes fixed on the monitor. The electrocardiogram, though erratic, remained within safe parameters. As the argument continued, the readings slowly stabilizedโ€”an unusual occurrence even for Dr. Blanc's experience.

While he pondered, his colleague's frustration boiled over. "Easy for you to say! What if she dies because of your misjudgment?"

"Then I'll pay for it with my life," Lily interrupted, her declaration silencing the room.

Every doctor present understood the limitations of their profession. They couldn't save everyone; sometimes, they were powerless. Lily's bold statement, therefore, struck them as overly confident. Who would sacrifice their life for a patient?

After a moment of silence, the colleague sneered, "Words are cheap. Who can force you to give up your life?"

"Dash!" Dr. Blanc reprimanded.

Lily looked up, resolute. "I'll put it in writing. Whatever the consequences, I bear them alone."

Lily's determination left little room for further objection. While their experience contradicted her claims, her sincerity was undeniable.
