Chapter 1693

Fabian, engrossed in his vaccine development project, seemed unconcerned with other matters. He was brimming with self-satisfaction. When Maria returned home and discovered their belongings tossed haphazardly in the yard, she cried out anxiously, "What's going on? Who told you to throw my things away?!"

"Me!" Fabian declared confidently, arms akimbo. Chuckling, he approached her, softening his tone. "I'm simply discarding the old to make way for the new!"

"New ones? What new ones?" Maria asked, bewildered. Seeing her carefully chosen sofas being carried away, she rushed to intervene. "Who said you could throw this away? It's still perfectly good!"

"So what if it is? There are better things!" Fabian restrained her, smiling triumphantly. "Don't you understand our position now? These things are worthless to us. Get rid of them; it'll be easier when we move to a new house!"

"A new house?!"

"Yes! I saw a magnificent house down the street. We don't need all this anymore. When the time comes, we'll get a new mahogany furniture set. It will make the house feel so much more luxurious!"

Maria's eyes lit up, then dimmed. She nudged him. "Come on, do you know how much that costs? How can you afford it? Stop dreaming!" She turned to stop the movers. What was the point of discarding their old furniture if they couldn't afford replacements? Their house would be empty.

"Woman, what do you know?!" Fabian grabbed her, pulling her aside. "The vaccine project has been approved, and everything is officially underway. The initial funds have been allocated, and this batch of goods will be used immediately. When the time comes, we'll receive our share. We can even buy three sets!"

Maria's face trembled with excitement. "Really?!"

"Why would I lie?" Fabian declared, head held high. "Once the vaccine is released, the whole world will want it. How much money do you think we'll make?"

After calculating on her fingers, she frowned. "Wait! Don't lie to me. The price is controlled; the profit is already predetermined. We won't make any extra money."

"You wouldn't understand even if I explained!" he snapped, then lowered his voice. "The factory price is fixed, but the cost of the products is in our hands. Doesn't that mean we control the profit?" He spread his hands, fingers clenched, as if illustrating complete control.

"Butโ€ฆthat's illegal!" Maria looked concerned.

Fabian's disdain was palpable. "This is why women can't do big things! You can't make big money without bending the rules. What big things can you achieve living in fear? Do you think all millionaires made their fortunes honestly? If you're so worried, go back to your family! Don't stand in my way of getting rich!"
