Listen to this chapter:

Alarmed, Anastasia lunged to grab his phone. "Stop meddling in my family's affairs!"

"You can't stop me! I'm in charge now that your father is unconscious," Fabian retorted, dodging her grasp. They grappled.

"Tasia, let him make the call!" Alexander shouted, halting their struggle.

Startled, they turned to him. Anastasia stammered, "B-But..."

"What do you mean?" Fabian frowned, distrustful. Alexander's words disconcerted him.

The project was paramount; its success was crucial to his financial future. A worldwide vaccine launch would multiply his assets, freeing him from Cameron's threats and securing his company's future. His greatest fear was encountering project setbacks, especially with Cameron's potential return to power. He feared Cameron would remove him from the project, leaving him without support. "Do you think I wouldn't dare?" he scoffed, believing Alexander was trying to intimidate him. He ostentatiously dialed 911. "I'm calling for an ambulance to take Cameron away. Then I'll find out what you guys have been up to!"

"Uncle Fabian!" Anastasia cried anxiously.

But Alexander remained impassive. "Make the call. Get him to the hospital. An hour later, the entire city will know Secretary Rollins is critically ill. Now, guess what happens next?"

Alexander's gaze was intense, his words heavy with meaning.

Fabian felt a prickle of unease, muttering, "W-What will happen?"

He instantly regretted his response, surprised by Alexander's unsettling presence, especially the weight of his unwavering gaze.

"While Secretary Rollins hasn't favored you, you've benefited greatly from your association with him. You also know many eagerly anticipate his downfall. If something were to happen now, do you think you can keep your project? When that happens, will anyone support you? Won't people question how you obtained the project?"

Alexander paused, then continued casually.

The questions chilled Fabian to the bone, echoing his deepest fears. His hand trembled, betraying his unease.
