Alexander sat quietly in the car, calmly awaiting something. Despite numerous problems demanding his attention, his patience remained unwavering.
Ten minutes stretched into an eternity. The house remained silent. Suddenly, the car's communication device beeped, its red light flashing. Alexander pressed the answer button. A deep voice announced, "Mr. Russell, we found him."
Alexander sighed with relief, his eyes snapping open. "How's the situation?"
"He's unharmed."
"Extract him now," Alexander instructed.
"But..." The caller hesitated.
"What's the problem?"
A pause, then another voice, weak but recognizable. "It's me."
"Cameron."
"Tell them to leave without me," Cameron whispered.
"Why?" Alexander's initial shock gave way to understanding. "You want her to keep you hostage?"
"Yes. I can't explain now. Just tell your men to leave. I'll explain later." Cameron's labored breath hinted at discomfort. Alexander frowned. "But you don't sound well. Are you sure you're alright?"
"I'm fine. I can manage," Cameron insisted, attempting a casual tone. "I must destroy the organization."
"But..." Alexander hesitated. "I understand, but you're risking your life."
"I don't care," Cameron said indifferently. "Just tell your men to leave before it's too late."
"Cameronโ"
"Just listen!" Cameron insisted. "Rhea's using me as a bargaining chip, will soon take me to the organization. If we work together, we can end this. Besides... I've made my arrangements. Don't worry about me, okay?"
Alexander listened. Cameron spoke coherently, his plan seemingly well-thought-out. Knowing Cameron for years, Alexander knew his mind was unchangeable.
"All right," Alexander replied. "Be careful. Get away as soon as possible."
"I will," Cameron said, the connection ending.
