"You've been through a lot here. It must have been tough," Alexander admired Edward's resourcefulness in finding a hidden escape route and uncovering secrets while remaining undetected. He knew it must have been incredibly challenging. "I just wanted to do something meaningful before I died, but I didn't expect it to backfire," Edward admitted, feeling guilty about nearly causing further trouble for his wife.

"It's not your fault," Alexander reassured him. Lily had provided a general account of events, her final words instructing Edward to care for himself and promising to detoxify him upon her return. However, Edward had been unable to fulfill that promise, instead finding himself on this mission with Alexander.

"Sir, this way," Edward led the way, wasting no time. Knowing the route, the pair quickly reached the "boss's" office. The previously heavily guarded area was now easily accessible.

Upon exiting the elevator and finding no guards, Edward stopped. "What is it?" Alexander asked, sensing something was amiss.

After a moment's hesitation, Edward said, "I think there's nothing here."

Alexander understood. The absence of guards indicated someone had been present, making entry difficult; otherwise, Rhea, with her cunning, would have easily relocated Cameron.

"Let's look around since we're already here," Alexander suggested thoughtfully.

Edward agreed, entering an office in disarray, its contents scattered as if a tornado had passed through. The spacious room was chaotic, and the door to the secret room was conspicuously open.

Edward peered inside. "It's empty," he stated.

Alexander confirmed this, noting not only its emptiness but also its foul odor and filth. Remembering Mike's warning, he cautioned Edward, "There might be viral residue here. Be careful."

Startled, Edward proceeded cautiously, carefully navigating the uncluttered secret room. The office, however, showed clear signs of a thorough search: files and books were scattered, clearly having been examined.

Alexander surveyed the scene. "Someone has been through here," he observed.

"Rhea?" Edward questioned.

Alexander shook his head. "Probably not. It looks like someone was searching for something specific."

"The organization's people?" Edward suggested.

"It's possible," Alexander conceded. However, without evidence, they could only speculate. The ransacked state of the office suggested anything of importance had likely been taken.

"It seems Secretary Rollins isn't here either," Edward said dejectedly, kicking a book. Their risky venture had yielded nothing, feeling like a wasted effort.

Edward sighed, glancing at the safe lying on its side. "I didn't expect whoever it was to pry open the safe, too."
