Spoiled by Mr. Russell, Chapter 2065

Fred's blue eyes blazed with fury, but a dismissive chuckle quickly followed. "Satisfying someone on the verge of death is... appropriate," he said, his tone laced with disdain. "It's your privilege to meet the boss."

Lily, sensing his concession, realized her chance to meet the mastermind had arrived. However, Fred's demeanor shifted. "But not now," he stated. "Prioritize your recovery. We'll bring you to him once you're better."

"How kind of you to care for the dying," Lisa retorted sarcastically.

Fred shrugged, his indifference apparent. "We're hoping to keep your body healthy as long as possible." He started to leave, then paused. "Oh, yourโ€ฆ husband seems quite active lately. He should be trying to rescue you."

He paused, gesturing twice, a calculated smile replacing his previous aloofness. "Still, I think his efforts are futile. He's influential, with connections in many foreign countries, even in your own. But ultimately, he's just a businessman, capable of very little!" Contempt dripped from his words.

Lily remained impassive, showing no reaction to his pronouncements. Her calm demeanor left Fred somewhat disappointed, and he departed.

The sound of the closing door prompted Lily to blink. She knew Alexander was doing everything possible, despite the inherent dangers and difficulties. However, communication had completely broken down. Even the doctor she'd contacted twice remained unresponsive, either due to lack of news or deliberate silence. This lack of information was immensely frustrating. Her only recourse was trust.

Alexander locked himself in his room after leaving the vaccine research facility. He switched on the light, cleared his desk, washed his hands, and returned to his work. He carefully opened a parchment envelope containing a stack of documentsโ€”three pages in total, meticulously preserved. Their contents both surprised and enlightened him.

About a third of the information confirmed his suspicions or previous investigations. The remaining two-thirds, however, were entirely new. Nevertheless, the documents proved invaluable. After finishing, he leaned back, breathing deeply, allowing the information to settle.

The "boss" had clearly prepared these documents, using them to negotiate with the organization. This likely explained his prominent position and role as messenger. He'd believed his control was absolute and that the information gave him impunity. Everyone, regardless of their identity, depended on him to contact the organization; lower-ranking members had no other access. That man's ambition and destructive desires had ultimately led to his demise at the hands of those he believed he controlled.
