Spoiled by Mr. Russell, Chapter 2071
Lily's words were earth-shattering. A strange clattering sound issued from the speaker, followed by a low gasp. Lily smiled, but no further sound or movement followed. It seemed everyone had forgotten her presence.
Bored, Lily paced the room. On her fifth lap, she heard a faint sound, like a door opening. She turned, but saw nothing. She knew of other doors within the chamber.
Then, she heard a wheelchair rolling. It wasn't hers; the one she'd arrived in remained untouched. Turning, she saw movement behind a folding screen.
Another wheelchair emerged, carrying an elderly woman. The woman frowned slightly as a man pushed her chair; Fred stood behind her, leaning on his cane.
Lily stood rooted, quietly observing the woman. Their eyes met; a moment of silence fell between them.
"Why haven't you respectfully greeted her?" Fred demanded.
Lily raised an eyebrow. "Respect? Why should I?"
"You must show respect when you meet Her Majesty!" Fred exclaimed, inadvertently revealing the truth.
Lily smiled. "So, you admit she's Her Majesty?"
"Now that you know, why don't you kneel?" Fred's tone was arrogant as he gestured with his cane.
The Queen raised a hand, signaling him to be quiet. Her expression was benevolent, yet Lily sensed underlying malice.
"Setting aside whether she's the real Queen, she's only the Queen of your country. I'm not your subject, so why should I pay my respects?" Lily retorted disdainfully.
"Youโ" Fred began.
"Silence!" The Queen's face hardened in anger.
Fred fell silent, standing aside, his glare fixed on Lily.
"Ms. Christian," the Queen said, her manner devoid of any regal bearing. She was old, her skin wrinkled, her appearance frail. Yet, an undeniable aristocratic air surrounded her.
