Anastasia nodded vigorously. "Okay, I'll listen," she said without hesitation. She was willing to let Austin treat her, since Alexander had sent him. After all, she wanted to find her father after recovering.
"Staying here is too suffocating," she thought.
Austin nodded, seeing her cooperation.
After meeting the queen, the organization returned Lily to a hotel room, similar to the previous one, rather than the empty hospital room. She felt much better; there was even a television. She wondered if there was Wi-Fi. After several unsuccessful attempts to detect a signal, she realized the television's programming was from an internal network. She couldn't contact the outside world, even using the television's signal.
"These people are resourceful," she mused. "But I should have expected that, given the queen's involvement."
Still, she hadn't expected the queen of Yudonia to be involved. Was she already in Yudonia?
"No, that's not right," she thought. "I'm not in Yudonia. Considering their caution, this must be Hyderland. They've even blocked the outside view."
Lily was unsure of her location but certain she hadn't left the country. This was good news; planning a rescue would be easier. Escape was highly possibleโimpossible if she were in Yudonia.
Two days after meeting the queen, Lily's health improved daily. Doctors brought her children at regular intervals. Lily checked their pulses and examined them, ensuring their health and safety.
She had to be cautious; the organization's history of human experimentation was well-known. She couldn't rule out the possibility of them using infants as test subjects.
Having done her research, she felt somewhat relieved. Looking at the clock, she realized the time was almost here. A knock came at the door.
The knock was merely a formality; after a minute, the door opened automatically. Fortunately, Lily always dressed appropriately, avoiding the embarrassment of being in her pajamas.
A small cart containing her children was wheeled in by the doctor who had relayed Alexander's messages.
Hopeful but calm, Lily quickly approached her children, picking one up and rubbing its cheek against hers, inhaling its scent. Despite seeing them twice daily, she yearned for them, feeling guilty for leaving them in danger. "I'm a terrible mother," she thought.
"Ms. Christian, we'll conduct a comprehensive physical examination today," the doctor announced.
"Give me a moment," Lily replied, without raising her head.
