Chapter 21
Lily sat down and looked up at Olivia. "Liv, if you must choose between MN Inc. and me, which one would you?"
"I'll choose you!" Olivia interrupted, answering without hesitation before Lily could finish.
Lily was stunned for a moment, then smiled.
It would be ideal if Olivia could continue working at MN Inc.; the company offered a decent salary, and the lab was a good fit for her. Olivia was hot-tempered and disliked complex social interactions, and her profound knowledge of perfumery made the lab an ideal work environment.
Lily's departure from MN Inc. would affect Olivia regardless of her choice, making Lily feel awful. However, Olivia's unwavering choice surprised her.
"Maybe I did gain something from working at MN Inc.," Lily thought.
Smiling, they exchanged a look; words were unnecessary.
"Oh, right. Are you really going to work at Rebirth?" Olivia asked bluntly. "Then can I come with you?" She was cautious, fearing she might cause Lily more trouble. Job-hoppers typically moved alone or with an entire team; a single assistant was unusual.
Furthermore, as a relatively unknown research assistant new to the perfumery industry, Olivia wasn't sure Rebirth would accept her.
"About that" Lily hesitated, as she hadn't discussed it with the Rebirth team. Alexander had arranged Lily's position; mentioning Olivia might be complicated.
"It's fine if I can't go with you! With my qualifications and abilities, I'll find another job. It won't be difficult," Olivia said casually, noticing Lily's hesitation. "N-No, it's not that you can't come. I'll talk to Rebirth first. Don't worry. I'll bring you everywhere if you want to come with me." Olivia's loyalty and excellent work made her an invaluable asset.
"When will you start?"
"I need to discuss it with them. Plus, I have some things to settle here."
"Is it the documents? Don't worry, I have backups on my laptop!" Olivia exclaimed, then angrily added, "But they took the hard copies!"
"It doesn't matter," Lily said, waving her hand. "Nathaniel will hold a press conference to force a confession about my competition lies."
"W-What?!" Olivia nearly jumped, bewildered. "How could he be so shameless?"
"We poured our hearts and souls into those fragrances and perfumes. You invested everything. Not only did Nathaniel take the credit, he wants to slander you? Does he have a conscience?" Olivia knew the truth, even if others didn't.
Lily and Olivia had worked tirelessly together, often foregoing meals to monitor experiments and even napping on lab benches to ensure accurate results. Their shared struggles fueled Olivia's fury at Nathaniel's actions.
