Fred smiled. "I'm not asking for much. I only hope you'll stop coming here after finishing your work today. We can cooperate, but your continued inspections disrupt our daily work."
"As you understand, we have confidential materials in the embassy. Any problems would be detrimental to relations between our countries, wouldn't it?"
Fred's reasonableness was apparent, and the man in the hazmat suit readily agreed. He nodded after a thoughtful gaze. "You're right."
Fred said indifferently, "So, you must promise not to disturb us againโat least not so soon."
The man consulted someone via his Bluetooth earpiece before replying, "Okay, my leader has agreed to your request."
"Excellent. Go ahead then." Fred opened the door. "Not just this room, please. Disinfect every room. However, I hope you can hurry. Delays affect relations between our countries."
"Don't worry. We're professional and fast." The man entered with his fogger.
The room was unoccupied, the beds made, but the high window offered limited outside visibility. Natural light was also scarce.
"This room gets hardly any sunlight. Not ideal for a patient, is it?" the man observed, turning to Fred.
Fred replied indifferently, "It's a medical room for wound dressing. We don't use it for long stays. Does that concern you? You're here to disinfect."
"Occupational hazard," the man replied, beginning to fog the room.
Fred stood at the doorway, watching coldly as the strong disinfectant scent filled the air. "Is your disinfectant harmful? We'll hold you responsible for any side effects."
"It's standard disinfectant. Your doctors likely use it. No need to worry, Your Grace."
Fred's raised eyebrow hinted at anger, but he remained silent as the man completed two passes. After a moment, Fred asked, "Are you finished?"
"Yes!" The man nodded, surveying the room before exiting. "The room's small, but there are fire safety concerns we hope you'll address."
"Those are none of your concern. And remember your promise. Don't reappear under the guise of fire safety a few days later with some other agenda, understand?" Fred said, arms crossed.
"We're not here to cause trouble, Your Grace. I hope you understand."
"Of course!" Fred smiled. "I've been cooperative, so I hope you complete your work today."
"We will." The man nodded and moved to the next room.
