Chapter 216

Olivia's reaction to the news surprised Lily, making her realize that revealing her relationship with Alexander was premature. This proved the relationship couldn't be made public yet.

"No!" Lily placed her hands on Olivia's shoulders, speaking patiently. "Listen. You know his status. If we went public, can you imagine the impact on my current situation? Even you find it hard to accept; imagine the public! I couldn't handle the publicity and gossip. I wouldn't have time or energy for anything else."

"It's not that I can't accept it. I just didn't expect" Olivia quickly explained. She was thrilled for Lily! "I understand! Still, not everyone thinks like me," Lily interrupted. "With his status, going public would be difficult for both of us. I want to achieve more first, to be more comparable to him."

Olivia, finally understanding, nodded slowly. "Lily, I believe in you. You can do it!"

"Yeah." Lily patted her shoulder, then turned to check the experiment's results.

A beep from the computer signaled the data was printed. A faint, pleasant fragrance filled the lab—a sign of success. Lily bent down, carefully studying the data while Olivia examined the samples. Both were engrossed in their work.

After a while

"Success! Success!" Olivia exclaimed excitedly. "Lily, it's a success!"

"Yes! The data meets the requirements, and the scent is perfect. We succeeded! We did it!" Lily was ecstatic, feeling a euphoria beyond description. This was her first new perfume since leaving MN Inc., a bold attempt she hoped would shine at the annual competition.

"Great! All that hard work paid off!"

"Keep the samples and data organized. Put them in the filing cabinet and lock it. We can call it a day!" It was already morning, but not too late to go home.

"Okay, I'll do it now!" Olivia efficiently packaged and preserved the samples, then cleaned the lab meticulously, handling the precious samples with extreme care.

Lily straightened up, turned off the lab's power, and washed her hands. Olivia had already finished cleaning up. Their shared joy was evident. Walking toward the elevator, Olivia tried to book a ride on her phone.

"It's late, and I'm not sure about cabs. Let's share one; it'll be safer. What do you think?"
