"Okay," Anastasia nodded, leaning into her father's shoulder. "So where's Rhea now?"

"Alex took her away," Cameron replied. "She might have valuable information. Perhaps this is an opportunity for her to redeem herself." He knew what Alexander and the others were doing and didn't object. Rhea had worked for the organization for a long time, and he hoped she would mend her ways. However, he knew the odds were slim.

"I never thought so many horrible things would happen," Anastasia said sadly, gazing ahead. "If I hadn't gotten infected, I wouldn't have realized how scary the virus is."

Her words reminded Cameron of her ordeal. "Are you sure you're feeling okay now? Sit up and let me look at you."

Anastasia spread her arms wide. "I'm okay, see? They wouldn't have discharged me if I was still sick. Besides, they gave me a thorough examination. Not only am I cured, I feel better than before!"

Seeing her spirited demeanor, Cameron felt relieved. "I'm so happy you're okay," he said with concern. "For now, try not to go out too much, okay?"

Anastasia blinked. "Why? Did something happen?"

"Stop asking so many questions and just listen to Dad, okay? It's for your own good." Cameron offered a strained smile.

Anastasia fell silent, then nodded. "Okay, Dad. I'll do as you say."

In the past, she hadn't understood her father's constant busyness and secrecy. She disliked his short-notice departures and envied Rhea, whose father was often home.

As Anastasia grew older, she understood he'd tried his best to be with her, but the nature of his job prevented him from revealing much. Therefore, she readily obeyed when he asked her not to question him so much.

Cameron looked at his daughter, proud of the mature young woman she had become. His phone rang, and he checked his watch. His expression hardened.

"Dad, are you leaving again?" Anastasia, understanding his expression, released his arm. "Now?"

Surprised, Cameron glanced at his arm, then back at her. He smiled, a little sadly. "Yes, I have to go. I'm so sorry, Tasia."
