Chapter 238
"What smells so good?" Lily rubbed her nose, sneezing suddenly. The sneeze disrupted the warm, loving atmosphere. "It's hangover soup," Alexander said, releasing Lily and straightening. "I'll get you some."
By the time Lily sat up, Alexander had already placed a bowl of soup before her. "Drink it while it's hot," he instructed. "Then go back to the room, take a bath, and rest."
"I'm not sleepy," Lily mumbled softly, stirring the soup. "Are you sure this is hangover soup?" She'd never had it before and imagined it tasting strange, but this was delicious. The lotus seeds, walnuts, red dates, plums, and other ingredients created a beautiful color and pleasant flavor.
"This is hangover soup?"
"I think so," Alexander replied, unconcerned; the ingredients weren't questionable. "It's my first attempt. I found the recipe online. Other recipes didn't taste good, but I think this one's all right. We happened to have all the ingredients at home, so I tried it." He lowered his head, tasted the soup with Lily's spoon, then straightened, examining the flavor. "It's fine," he declared seriously.
Lily was touched. He's so considerate. Not only did he search for a recipe online, he considered my preferences and even tasted the soup for me.
Without hesitation, Lily finished the soup. The sweet and sour flavor was refreshing and eased her headache.
"Sorry," she said, setting down the bowl.
"I thought you were going to thank me again," Alexander teased, noting the empty bowl.
"Thank you, of course, but I want to apologize more. I didn't expect my alcohol tolerance to be so bad. I've hardly ever drunk before. I swear, next time I won't drink like this. This is the first and last time," she vowed, raising a hand. "I made you worry."
Alexander looked at Lily intently, lowered her hand, and pulled it to his chest. "As long as you know you worried me. Next time you drink, I'll go with you. If I'm not there, don't drink."
"Oh," Lily murmured, snuggling closer. "Go wash up and sleep," Alexander said, kissing her forehead softly. Lily nuzzled his neck, whining, "No, I'm not sleepy. Alex, I have an immature thought to share."
"Huh?" Alexander asked, embracing her shoulders.
"Last time, I experimented with new products, making perfume, using the average person as my reference. It was well-loved—prevalent and sold well—but I want to make something different."
She'd been thinking about this increasingly. However, she hadn't fully considered its feasibility, so she hadn't mentioned it. Still slightly lightheaded, or perhaps simply feeling like sharing, she decided to tell Alexander.
"You want to build a high-quality brand?" Alexander asked thoughtfully.
Lily straightened, looking at him with appreciation. He was a veteran in the fashion world, a leader. Even before she explained, he'd guessed her intentions. "Right," she said seriously, nodding.
