Chapter 250: "Thanks, Liv!"

"There's no need to thank me; it's what I should do. Still, I never expected you to be living with the boss already. That was quick!" Olivia was leaving her house, carrying a stack of clothes. She pinned her phone to her car with her shoulder, her head tilted to one side. Her voice sounded strained. "Oh, hey!" Lily wondered if Olivia would be shocked—or even angry—if she knew Lily and Alexander had already registered their marriage. In fact, they had registered a long time ago.

"Lily, I'm not criticizing you, but I have to say something that might not sound good. Although the boss is attractive and not a bad person, you must be careful. He's too good, is all I'm saying. Do you understand?"

Olivia knew what she had to say was unpleasant, but she felt it was necessary. From her perspective, Lily excelled at everything except love. With Nathaniel, she'd blindly given so much, and it hadn't ended well. Alexander was far better, but what if this didn't last?

Wealthy families were not easy. Many women who married into them had met unhappy ends. Olivia wanted Lily to be happy; she didn't want her to follow that path.

"I understand," Lily nodded. She knew Olivia was only concerned about her.

"No, you don't," Olivia said.

Lily was speechless.

"The boss is a highly eligible bachelor. He's constantly surrounded by beautiful women. Lily, I'm not trying to curse you, but you must protect yourself. You have to think about yourself," Olivia trailed off. "Ah, who cares. I don't know what I'm saying."

Lily smiled. "I know you mean well, little miss nosy. Why haven't I noticed how naggy you were before? Let me ask you something: when Edward sent you home, did you nag him the whole way?" Thinking of his quiet personality, Olivia found the image amusing.

"Hey! I'm being serious, and you're joking! Fine, I won't say anything more." Unknowingly, Olivia's face reddened. She thought of the apathetic Edward. Besides their initial misunderstanding, he seemed dependable.

To Olivia, Edward was far more dependable than Alexander. Edward provided a sense of security. Suddenly, Olivia snapped back to the present. She shook her head and patted her face. "Gosh, what am I thinking?! I'm comparing Edward to Alexander and thinking he offers security? I'm not the one choosing a boyfriend!"

"Olivia? Olivia!" Lily called her name several times, getting no response.

"Uh, I'm here. Go ahead." "What are you doing? There's so much noise." She'd heard Olivia patting her face but didn't know what happened. "Oh, it was nothing. A mosquito was buzzing around, so I was trying to swat it. You can continue."

"A mosquito?" Lily was skeptical. "This time of year?"

Nonetheless, Lily didn't press further and returned to the previous topic. "I was saying, about the trip—didn't you have a suggestion? Alexander said it's no problem, and we can make our own plans. Let's meet and talk about it when you're free."

"I'm usually free. How about today?"

"That's fine. I'll—" Lily was about to suggest a place to meet, eat, and discuss the trip when a news report on the television caught her attention. "A car accident occurred in our city early this morning. A white Benz lost control, hitting three road dividers and then a large tree. The injured party has been taken to the hospital for intensive care. Reports indicate the injured person is the CEO of MN Inc., Mr. Nathaniel Hall. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The studio has included the relevant reports below."
