Chapter 259
The young man was silent for a moment before saying resolutely, "Yes! Is there a problem?"
"Nope! In that case, I want you to use this type of wood for my order. I'll decide what to carve later and tell your boss then," she said, waving the wood scrap and turning to leave. "Wait!" the young man called anxiously.
Lily paused, then turned back. "I'm not sure what size you want. There might not be enough wood." He frowned, looking troubled.
"That shouldn't be a problem. You can tell your boss, and he can buy more." Lily smiled casually. "You don't need to worry about that. That's your boss's job."
"Well" He pursed his lips. "The factory won't have enough either. And you just can't use this type of wood."
He was hiding something. Lily didn't press him, simply smiling and looking at him. "Honesty is the best policy, little boy."
"Little boy? You're not much older than me!" He looked unhappy at the address, pursing his lips. "No matter what, you can't use this type of wood."
"I'll talk to your boss," Lily said, having found his weak point. It was easy to rile him.
"Why must you use this type of wood? I can use others, and I promise the results will be the same, if not better!" His cheeks puffed out in anger, making him look like an adorable hamster.
Lily smiled. "If they're the same, why can't I use this wood? What's special about it?"
He said nothing, so Lily continued. "Or is there a difference? The scent, for instance?" She moved closer. Despite her constant smile, a subtle threat emanated from her. She wasn't intimidating, yet she projected an aura that made him want to flee. Frowning, he asked, "Who are you?"
"Me? I'm just a customer," Lily answered, looking at the wood scrap. It looked ordinary, except for a peculiar stain on its sideโa dried liquid, it seemed, from when the wood was cut. This area emitted an intoxicating fragrance unlike anything Lily had encountered before, a unique blend of natural scent and wood.
She suspected the wood was grafted, similar to an order she'd placed in Middle Valley. Woodcraft shops guarded their suppliersโ identities. Lily merely wanted to know the source of the scent, but why would they trust her? Even if they did, they weren't obligated to help. So, she placed a private order specifying this type of wood. As expected, it was unique, explaining the young man's anxiety.
