Chapter 270

Nathaniel was disgusted to learn that Melanie seemed to be with Frank whenever she was out late or absent.

Eloise was surprised by Nathaniel’s revelation. “You mean Melanie Thayer?” she asked.

“I’m pretty sure I only have one fiancée,” he replied ironically.

“Are you sure? I thought you had two,” Eloise snapped.

Nathaniel remained silent. Eloise continued, “So, Melanie slept with Frank? They were unfaithful?”

Nathaniel was embarrassed by Eloise’s bluntness. His cheeks flushed crimson as he exclaimed, “Mother!”

“Since you’ve already embarrassed yourself, why worry now?” Eloise retorted. “Are you upset with me for introducing Frank?”

Nathaniel had initially been angry with her, but upon reflection, he knew it wasn't her fault. Who could have predicted this? Besides, Frank had helped MN Inc. overcome its crisis. “No, I don’t blame you,” Nathaniel said.

Eloise nodded. “At least you’re still sensible. I would be furious if you blamed me! Nate, I’ve told you, that woman isn’t suitable for you. She’s not someone you could weather hardships with. Even without Frank, she would eventually leave you for someone else and betray you. You should be thankful you discovered the truth before marriage.”

Eloise wasn’t shocked; she had disliked Melanie from the start but hadn’t voiced her concerns because Nathaniel loved Melanie and she didn’t want to interfere. At least he saw Melanie’s true colors before it was too late.

“B-but she’s pregnant with my child,” Nathaniel stammered, revealing lingering feelings for Melanie. They had been together for so long. How could he abandon her?

“Your child? Are you sure? Judging by her character, what makes you think she’s telling the truth?” Eloise smirked, finding the claim ridiculous. Despite his doubts, Nathaniel remained trusting. “That’s not possible. Melanie was already pregnant when she met Frank. I’m sure the baby is mine!” he declared firmly.

“Even if it’s not Frank’s, how do you know it’s yours? She seems flirtatious. How would you know what she’s capable of? She might not even be pregnant!” Eloise continued her sharp critique. “Besides, even if the baby is yours, do you want someone like her as your child’s mother? What would people think?”

Eloise added, “If only you had listened to my advice and chosen Lily instead, this wouldn’t have happened.”

Nathaniel frowned. “I’ve told you not to talk about her!” He paused, adding softly, “She didn’t even visit me in the hospital. So how is she better?”
