Chapter 308
"Thank you! You really saved me earlier."
Lily found Lisa's earlier description of the scenario hilarious. Lisa, no matter what, had been kind enough to help her.
Lisa smiled sweetly. "No worries! You just need to teach me how to make a scented sachet. I loved yours so much, I tried to make one myself, but all my attempts failed."
"Your dad's a top perfumer. Don't you like any of his fragrances?" Lily asked thoughtfully.
"I do, but perfumes are different from your sachet. I can carry the sachet everywhere; the scent lasts much longer. I also like to put it by my pillow—it helps me sleep better. Did you put drugs in it? I think I'm addicted!"
"Haha! Your dad would know instantly if there were drugs in it."
Lily looked around; Wesley was gone.
"Stop looking around. My dad was just making an appearance. He had to meet someone important," Lisa said, knowing why Lily was searching.
"Yeah, we're all just 'normal' guests," Lily nodded, agreeing with Wesley to some extent. He was right that life was unfair, and unequal treatment was common. What really bothered Lily was the organizer's awful attitude. Even if they had more important guests, they shouldn't ignore everyone else—after all, they invited everyone. If they didn't care about the other guests, they shouldn't have invited them to fill the seats.
Lisa laughed. "I heard everything you guys said earlier. Honestly, what you did was admirable."
"How so?"
"Well, it's the first time I've seen anyone talk to my dad like that. His expression was hilarious! Hahaha!" Lisa laughed heartily.
Lily found Lisa's words equally amusing. "Put like that, it sounds like praise. Should I be honored to be the first person to make your dad angry?"
"Consider it your moment of glory."
Lily was speechless. After a while, she asked, "You're not mad?"
Lisa looked at Lily as if she were an alien. "Why would I be? You were right. My dad can be a snob—he's egotistical and only cares about certain people. He's used to constant compliments."
"With his status, reputation, and skills, he deserves them," Lily conceded, knowing something of Wesley's creations. She liked a few of his classic items but had never met him.
"Let's drop him. Tell me about your life these past few years! Are you a perfumer in Hyderland already?" Lisa asked playfully.
Lily sighed, at a loss for words. Her sigh surprised Lisa.
Just as Lisa was about to ask more, she heard someone call, "Hey Lisa! Long time no see!"
Lisa turned and saw a vaguely familiar face. The woman smiled sweetly. "You've gotten so pretty! I almost didn't recognize you!"
