Chapter 312
After a while, she couldn't resist opening the chat window again. Nowadays, she reasoned, there was nothing wrong with a woman taking the initiative. She quickly typed, "I've arrived!" and sent the message without hesitation.
However, her message seemed to have vanished. There was no response, not even an emoji. Staring at the screen, Lily felt embarrassed. She had reached out, and he hadn't reacted. She long-pressed her message, attempting to unsend it, but the time limit had expired.
"Damn it!" she muttered, her phone ringing suddenly. Seeing Alexander's name, she felt a surge of excitement, but hesitated before answering. No, no, no! Answering so quickly would make it obvious she'd been waiting. After three seconds, she answered, fearing he'd hang up if she didn't.
"Hello?" she said, her voice sounding slightly lazy.
"Seven hours and twenty-eight minutes," he replied.
"What?" she asked, blinking in confusion.
"You're seven hours and twenty-eight minutes late," he explained. "According to your flight time, you should have arrived seven hours and twenty-eight minutes ago. Even accounting for travel time and rest, you're still about five hours late."
Lily was stunned. "What about you? You're also seven hours and twenty-eight minutes late! No, seven and a half hours!"
She was furious. He'd obviously been tracking her flight, so he could have easily contacted her. How dare he blame her?
"I'm sorry. I was in a meeting," she said.
Alexander sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. After a long day of meetings, he was exhausted, surviving only on coffee. He was about to call her when her message arrived. Although simple, it warmed his heart and erased his fatigue.
"Okay, I forgive you!" she said happily.
"Is everything alright there? I know some good restaurants you might try," he said. "I'll send you the addresses later."
"If you think they're good, they're probably expensive," she retorted, poking at the bed and pouting. "Forget it. I'll just have room service."
He laughed at her complaint about the price. "You can use my credit card!"
"How? Bring your card here," she joked, extending her hand as if he could magically place it in her palm.
He was thousands of kilometers away. How could she possibly use his card?
