Chapter 326
Late one night, in her hotel room, Melanie hung up the phone when a knock came at the door. Frowning, she rose and answered it.
Frank leaned against the doorframe, a bottle clutched in one hand. A malicious smile curled his lips as he regarded her.
"Why are you here?"
Melanie, impatient and unwilling to let him in, replied, "It's very late. I was about to sleep."
"Stop pretending!"
Frank shoved the door open. Melanie, unable to match his strength, stumbled back two steps as he entered, drunk, and then closed the door behind him.
"Frank, don't forget why we're here! Look what you're doing!" she said coldly, deliberately distancing herself.
"What do you think we're here for?" Frank sneered. "You wanted to come here, and I brought you here. You haven't given me what I wanted yet. Perhaps you should pay me some interest first?"
He opened his arms and lunged toward her. Melanie clutched her clothes tightly and dodged. "Why the rush?"
"Rush? It's been so long," Frank said. "You said it would be easy in Woodland, but it's even more difficult now that Lily's caught up with Wesley Parker." He'd initially thought getting Lily would be easy on his territory, but it had become far more troublesome. "Wesley Parker?"
Melanie chuckled. "Don't be mistaken. She only knows his daughter; she has no personal connection to him."
"What difference does that make? Everyone knows Wesley Parker adores his daughter."
Something was wrong with Frank. His face was flushed, and he was agitated. His breath smelled of alcohol, though not overwhelmingly so. Melanie noticed his glazed eyes and realized he'd likely taken drugs before arriving.
"He's so annoying," she thought. "Frank, you need to rest. We'll talk tomorrow." She'd had something serious to tell him, but he was in no fit state. "Go back to your room. We'll talk tomorrow."
Of course, Frank didn't comply. He pulled her toward him, holding her tightly.
"Frank, no!" Melanie protested, pushing against him with both hands. "Let me go!"
Her resistance was futile against a man drunk, high, and considerably stronger. Taking a deep breath, she suppressed the urge to slap him. He was still valuable; she needed him to destroy Lily, so she endured.
The next day, Melanie rose to shower, but the previous night's events remained stubbornly ingrained. She'd made up her mind. In addition to destroying Lily, she would also get rid of the man in her bed. She wanted them both to pay.
