Chapter 336

Giselle collapsed before finishing her sentence.

"Giselle?" Lily called, frowning. She grabbed Giselle's arm, shaking it. "What's wrong?"

Mid-sentence, Lily also felt faint. Looking at Giselle, she gasped, "You're not Lisa's people!" She then fell onto Giselle's unconscious body.

"Too late," Jo said menacingly.

The car sped to a desolate location. They stopped midway to switch vehicles before continuing. They took circuitous routes, finally stopping before a small wooden house. The driver exited and went to the other side. Jo opened the door and jumped out. They carried Lily and Giselle to the house.

The occupants, alerted by the noise, opened the door. "You weren't followed, right?"

"Hmph," Jo grunted, striding inside. The driver followed, and the third man locked the door, checking for pursuers before switching off the lights. He turned to the unconscious women. Frowning, he asked, "We're supposed to kidnap Lily. Why are there two? Which is Lily? Or are they both Lily?"

They'd been hired to kidnap Lily; the client hadn't mentioned anyone else, and they weren't getting paid extra.

"About that" Jo indicated Giselle with a nod. "Her assistant. Insisted on coming. Tough luck for her."

Christopher, the short, bearded man who'd opened the door, leaned closer. "This is her?"

The client had stressed caution and a higher drug dosageโ€”triple the amount in the fragrance. They'd taken an antidote and precautions; otherwise, they'd have also fainted. The client had also repeatedly insisted on securely tying up Lily, implying she was a formidable fighter. Seeing her frail, delicate form, he realized ten of her wouldn't be a match, let alone a bound one. Now, with the heavy dose, he worried about her safety.

"She's still alive, right?" Uneasy at her deep sleep, he checked her breathing, relieved to find she was still alive. He told the others, "Find a rope to tie her up."

"Necessary?" the driver questioned, unconvinced. They weren't ordinary thugs; they were on Interpol's wanted list, used to following instructions for payment. But this was overkill. The client was obviously wealthy, butโ€ฆ foolish.

"We follow the client's instructions," Christopher said, shrugging. "Maybe he hasโ€ฆpreferences." It wasn't a big deal. He found rope and tied Lily's hands. They left Giselle unbound. Then they threw the women into separate rooms, awaiting the ransom exchange.
