Chapter 371

As they drove along the extended road, Lily was gradually captivated by the scenery. Fields of lavender stretched out, a sea of purple, though the season was waning and much of the harvest was already underway. A delicate floral fragrance hung in the air, refreshing and invigorating.

"Greenfields," she murmured, tilting her head to let the flower-scented breeze caress her face. "This is beautiful."

"Actually, it's not the best time for flower viewing," Alexander said, his eyes on the road. "But there are other things you'll enjoy, I think."

Lily smiled at him. "The lavender is famous here, isn't it? They start harvesting in June, distilling the extract for aromatherapy, essential oils, perfumes, soaps—isn't that what you wanted to show me?"

"You've guessed it," he chuckled. "Where's the fun in that?" He smiled, glanced at her, then focused on the road, accelerating slightly. His manner was relaxed, creating a peaceful atmosphere that eased her mind.

She let him drive, asking no further questions. They passed through expansive fields and winding lanes, arriving at a vibrant town—a blend of modern high-rises and medieval architecture. People bustled through the markets, a mix of hurried shoppers and leisurely strollers, creating a vibrant, unique scene. The lavender scent, ever-present, had a soothing effect.

After parking, Alexander took her hand and they strolled down a charming street, unburdened by bodyguards or the need for secrecy. Here, they were just an ordinary couple. Lily relished this freedom; it was casual and relaxed, without pressure.

"You drove me all this way to escape going home and go shopping instead?" she teased. Though, she secretly admitted, she loved it.

"Of course not," he began, but before he could finish, he pulled her around a corner into a uniquely decorated shop. From the outside, it was unremarkable, but inside, delicate objects filled the space. Most accessories and ornaments were in shades of brown and green, varying in hue but maintaining a consistent, comfortable, and stylish tone.

"It's fascinating!" she exclaimed, glancing around.

"Can you see what's special about it?" he asked, smiling.

The shop was quiet, with customers chatting softly, punctuated by occasional laughter. Lily wandered, her gaze falling upon a carved heart on a shelf. The carving was exquisite, and the light brown color was striking. She leaned closer, inhaling a faint aroma—a subtle blend of wood and something sweet. She reached for it, but a voice stopped her.

"Hello, please don't touch it!"

The shop assistant spoke in Westwood, to which Lily replied, "I'm sorry, I just thought it was beautiful." She withdrew her hand.
