Chapter 375

Louis stared intently at Lily with a small smile.

“You’re the manager of this project,” Lily was shocked. “Since when did I become a project manager? What am I in charge of? I have no idea what this project is about!”

“Nice to meet you, Ms. Christian,” Louis said, beaming. “Your name sounds familiar.”

“Oh, I remember now. You’re the winner of the recent perfumery competition, Lily Christian. That was you, right?” Louis asked.

Lily hadn’t expected the news to spread so quickly, even reaching Marseille. Moreover, his company specialized in Southbank soap, not perfumery. Being recognized felt like a sudden surge of fame.

“Yes, I am,” she nodded.

Louis’s eyes lit up. “It truly is you! I’m honored to meet you! To be honest, Mr. Russell, I was worried when you said you wanted to combine perfume and Southbank soap. But if Ms. Christian is in charge, then I can rest easy. I look forward to working with you, Ms. Christian!”

Lily was speechless. “I-I’ve never done this before. I can only say that I’ll try my best.”

The fusion of perfume and Southbank soap? She was only just learning about it. She had no idea what to do. How was she supposed to complete this task? She looked at Alexander with resentment.

“You’re too modest, Ms. Christian. Your victory in the Westwood perfumery competition brought us great honor. You may not know, but others in this circle discriminated against us. This place is famous worldwide for its makeup, perfumes, and other goods. In their eyes, we’re not as good as them. You’ve brought great honor to us.”

Louis gave Lily a thumbs-up, his praise sincere, not an attempt to win Alexander’s favor. His words flattered Lily, giving her the satisfaction of having brought them glory. She was happy to have done something for her people. However, she knew this was just the beginning; a long road lay ahead.

They discussed the project further before leaving with several Southbank soaps Louis had prepared.

After leaving the shop, Alexander tried to hold her hand, but Lily avoided him.

“Are you angry with me?” Alexander quickly sensed her displeasure. “Do you blame me for not telling you beforehand?”

“So you do know.”

Lily side-eyed him. “You said you were taking me out for a fun time, but it was a business meeting! You attend your business meetings as you please. Why involve me? I had no idea what was happening and was suddenly made a project manager!” Lily hadn’t questioned him earlier because of the presence of others. Now, outside, she unleashed her frustration.

Alexander smiled at her puffed cheeks. “It was a business meeting, but I didn’t lie about taking you out for fun. Look, you even got gifts!” He waved the gift bag.

“I don’t want it!” Lily retorted, looking away and walking off in a huff.
