Chapter 383
Curiosity piqued, Lily leaned over and saw "Brandon Oakley" on the screen. She glanced at Alexander, noting the impatience in his eyes, but he still answered the call. "What is it?"
Brandon was stunned, perhaps by Alexander's severe expression and hostile tone. He'd initially planned a lengthy complaint, but now, wide-eyed, he was speechless.
"Pfft!"
Lily couldn't suppress a chuckle. She could see Brandon's face on Alexander's screen and found the situation amusing. Brandon had clearly called at the worst possible time. Alexander was in a foul mood, and Lily felt sorry for Brandon when he requested a video call.
"You have a woman with you?"
Brandon, despite Lily's soft voice, had sharp hearing and caught her words. His initial hesitation vanished, and he launched into a fierce rebuke: "Alex, there's a woman with you! Tanny was right! A vixen seduced you!"
Lily was speechless, but Brandon's words only infuriated Alexander further. "What did you say?" he demanded solemnly.
"Cough! Cough!" Alexander's intimidating presence silenced Brandon once more. However, Brandon felt his timidity was misplaced. I'm here to avenge my sister! How can I be scared of him? Mustering his courage, he declared righteously, "Am I wrong? I dare you to show me your room now! And why did you go to Westwood so suddenly?"
Lily narrowed her eyes. From the brief exchange and the name on Alexander's screen, she deduced that Brandon was likely related to Brittany. Could he be her brother, here to defend her? "Brandon Oakley"
Alexander repeated the name slowly. His expression was as severe as before, but his gaze was even colder, sending shivers down Brandon's spine. Brandon instinctively shrank in his seat.
"What?"
"Do you want to die?"
Both Brandon and Lily were speechless. After a two-second silence, Brandon whined, "Dude! You can't blame me! You blocked Tanny everywhere. She couldn't find you, so she came crying to me. I'm tired of it. You understand, right?"
"She's your sister."
Wow. He sounds completely uncaring, Lily thought.
"You have no humanity!" Brandon complained.
We think alike, Lily mused.
"My humanity applies only to humans," Alexander said casually.
"What do you mean?" Brandon was confused.
His humanity is only for humans—meaning he considers you subhuman. He just insulted his friend! I've been learning just how cruel he can be, and I'm grateful he's never spoken to me like that. I'd have run away long ago!
"It's nothing. Anything else? I'm hanging up if you don't," Alexander said, preparing to end the call.
"Yes! What about Tanny? We can't let her keep crying, can we? Are you going to block her forever?" Brandon didn't believe Alexander would cut off all contact with Brittany permanently; he figured Alexander just wanted peace and quiet. He understood Brittany was spoiled, and a lesson was deserved, but he resented being her target.
"We'll see," Alexander replied faintly.
