Chapter 394
Lily's smile widened as she noticed Nick looking at her. He was surprised by her smile, his tense face relaxing as a fleeting glimmer of a smile touched his own lips.
Lily didn't speak immediately but offered him her hand, fingers curled slightly, palm up, in invitation. He hesitated, then carefully placed his small hand in hers. Lily held his hand tightly, her smile brightening.
Suddenly, Nick threw his arms around her, hugging her tightly. Lily, intending only to comfort him, was taken aback by his vulnerability. Gently holding him and stroking his back, she felt his distress. Mike watched silently, his eyes brightening.
Eventually, Nick calmed down, his embrace loosening. Lily tried to stand, but her legs were shaky from sitting. Mike helped her up, taking Nick from her arms. "Thank you," he said.
Smiling slightly, Lily shook Nick's tiny hand. "Anyway," she said kindly, "don't argue in front of him. It will have a great psychological impact."
"Yeah," Mike nodded, though sounding disappointed. "Nick likes you very much. If you're not in a rush to leave, I was hoping you could stay a couple more days."
Lisa chimed in, "Yeah, Lily, do you have to go back? Think of the great opportunities if you stay! My dad's team is excellent. You'll definitely have a good career path!"
Mike agreed. "The prospects here are excellent. Since you're so talented in perfumery, don't you want to seek a better future? Besides, I can help you if you encounter any difficulties."
"No," Lily shook her head firmly. "I prefer to develop in the local industry. No matter where I am, I'll create my own future!"
Persuasion seemed futile, but Nick was reluctant to let her go. "Miss Lily," he whispered, apprehension in his eyes. "If there's a chance in the future, ask your father to let you visit me. I'll take you out to eat!"
Lily warmly tapped his face. He looked to his father for permission. Mike nodded, "Definitely!"
