Chapter 404

"Do you honestly mean that?"

Lily laughed. "I don't think so."

Nathaniel replied desperately, "Then what else do you want me to do? Just name it. I'll do whatever you want!"

"Really?" Lily smirked wickedly. She looked like a siren who could lure any man.

Nathaniel was captivated by her beauty, but then he noticed she had lifted a slender finger and pointed toward the window.

"Jump out the window!" she said.

"What?!" Nathaniel thought he had misheard.

"Didn't you say you meant it? I'm giving you a chance. If you jump, I'll forgive you immediately," Lily said, sneering. She was smiling, but her eyes were cold, like icy pools staring into Nathaniel's soul, freezing him.

"I-I" Nathaniel peeked outside the window. They were on the sixty-sixth floor, and the view was breathtaking, but looking down made him dizzy. How can I jump from this height?! I'll die! he thought.

"Lily, stop joking. I sincerely apologize for my past mistakes, but you're being…" He looked at Lily with a pained expression, obviously not going to jump.

"You're not willing to do it, huh? Then say so. Why are you even talking about being sincere?" Lily laughed at Nathaniel's foolishness. Of course, he wouldn't jump. She was amazed he wouldn't even pretend. She couldn't help but look down on him. What a coward, she thought.

"I-I" Nathaniel was sweating; he could no longer hold a decent conversation with Lily. He had never noticed she had such a sharp tongue; it suffocated him.

"Have you ordered?" Lily glanced at Nathaniel.

"N-Not yet!"

After changing the subject, Nathaniel could speak again. He smiled and continued, "I was waiting for you. What would you like to have? Go ahead and order." He waved for the waiter to bring the menu.

Lily accepted the menu and, glancing at him while studying it, asked, "Anything? Are you buying?"

"Of course!" Nathaniel gritted his teeth. He knew what kind of restaurant he had invited Lily to. Even though expensive, it was within his means. It was nothing if he could win her back and gain the Lodge family's help. He was willing to go all out.

Lily smirked. Such irony! He always claimed outside food was unclean and lacked the taste of home, always insisting I cook whenever I suggested eating out. Yet now, Nate is being so generous? She pointed at a few dishes the server recommended, without asking Nathaniel what he wanted, and returned the menu to the waiter. Then, she stared straight at Nathaniel and asked seriously, "Get straight to the point. What are you planning? You've been up to something the past two days."

Nathaniel regained his composure immediately. He cleared his throat and looked at Lily with loving eyes. "Lily, can you give me a second chance? We can start over."
