Chapter 422
Lilyโs instincts were sharp. Though the driver remained in their car, she sensed something unusual. Turning to the adjacent vehicle, she saw Justin in the backseat, beckoning her over.
Speechless, she entered his car without a word. After a glance at Justin, her gaze drifted to her red Porsche. "How did you know that's my car?" she asked.
"You've been pretty busy lately," Justin replied, profoundly ignoring her question.
Lily nodded. "Kinda. I'm sure you've heard about everything." Knowing he'd identified her car in this vast parking lot, she was certain he'd heard the recent online commotion.
Justin looked at her this time. "I don't remember you being this high-profile in the past."
Lily lowered her head, smoothing the wrinkles on her shirt, tugging at it in frustration. "It might be the Lodge family's influence, or maybe I'm just changing my style." "You weren't running errands here again, were you? Did Grandpa send you for me?"
"Birthday celebration." Those two words explained his presence.
Lily remembered, nodding slightly. "I figured. I'll be there."
Justin stared at her intently. "Have you decided not to return for good?"
"I've told you before," Lily replied. "It's not that I'm not going back; it's just not the right time. Besides, does it even matter if I return? Am I that important to the Lodge family?" She felt otherwise. Leaving the Lodge residence had been a relief, an escape from the depressing, rushed environment. She hadn't considered returning, not even after Nathaniel and Melanie's trickery.
Using the Lodge family's influence for revenge against Nathaniel would be easy, but the backlash would be far more challenging. She preferred facing her problems alone.
Justin's expression was complex. His lips moved as if to speak, but he stopped. Finally, he said, "He's old now."
Lily patted his shoulder. "The Lodge family has long lifespans. Don't worry." "If there's nothing else, I'll leave now."
"Wait!" Justin called, tossing a folder to her.
"What is this?" Lily asked, puzzled.
"Some information that might be useful. Look at it when you're free," Justin said casually.
Lily raised an eyebrow, feeling the light folder. "Okay, then!"
After she exited, his car started and sped away. Looking down at the folder, she decided to open it at home; there was no rush.
