Anthony opened the door and peeked inside. "Mr. Hall, Olivia Hart is here."
"Let her in," Nathaniel nodded.
Olivia awkwardly put away her phone and entered the office with a forced smile. Forget it. Better to check the situation before telling Lily.
"Mr. Hall," she said stiffly, then stood silently, waiting for him to speak. She didn't like Nathaniel very much. She'd followed Lily for a long time, observing the pair's intense work in the laboratory.
Olivia considered herself diligent—one of the hardest-working students in her school days. But only after working alongside Lily did she meet someone equally dedicated. They were so engrossed in their lab work that they often forgot to eat or sleep. Olivia had lost count of the times she'd fallen asleep in the lab, only to wake and find Lily still recording, analyzing, and researching data. Olivia genuinely admired Lily; she worked tirelessly, not for fame or profit, sacrificing honor and glory for her love of Nathaniel. But that scumbag had discredited the woman who worked so hard for him. Olivia barely restrained herself from cursing Nathaniel.
"Liv, just back from your vacation? How was it? Did you have fun?" Nathaniel's politeness felt hypocritical.
Olivia managed a tight smile. "My vacation's on hold. Didn't you want me back as soon as possible, sir? I still have half a day left, according to my plans." Nathaniel frowned at her rebuttal but replied softly, "Indeed, we appreciate your hard work. An unexpected incident requires your help. I'll triple your leave once we're finished." "R-Really? You'd triple my leave?!" Olivia's eyebrows shot up in disbelief. "Of course! Don't worry about it! But you'll need to do me a small favor," Nathaniel said politely.
Melanie, sprawled in the oversized ergonomic chair beside the desk, rolled her eyes. Her legs were crossed, and as she swung them, the chair gently followed. Olivia ignored Melanie, focusing on Nathaniel. However, she laughed at his words. "You're joking, Mr. Hall. I'm just a lab assistant; how could I possibly help you?" she said sarcastically.
Whether Nathaniel didn't hear or pretended not to, he said, "Oh, you absolutely can. Trust me. You're the only one who can."
"What do you mean, Mr. Hall?"
"Testify." "T-Testify?"
"Yes. You've worked on MN Inc.'s perfumes recently, and you've done excellent work. After this case, you'll get a promotion." Nathaniel nodded vigorously. "Thank you, Mr. Hall," Olivia replied insincerely. "Although you haven't told me what I'm testifying to."
"I want you to testify that Melanie is MN Inc.'s true perfumer, and that you two formulated and developed our recent best-selling products." Olivia cursed him inwardly and asked innocently, "Then what about Lily?"
