Chapter 462
Initially, Brandon thought scheduling a meeting with Alexander would be easy, but he was rejected. He couldn't believe it. Rejected?
"I know you're busy," Brandon said generously, "but you could surely squeeze in some time for me! Let's talk. Anytime from noon to evening; I'm flexible!"
"I don't have time," Alexander replied, flipping through his schedule. He wasn't joking.
"That's impossible! How about tomorrow at noon?" Brandon didn't believe Alexander was fully booked.
"I have a meeting with Aurora—it was scheduled a month and a half ago."
"Tomorrow night?"
"I have an appointment with Mr. Hendricks at the Pavilion."
"The day after tomorrow?"
"Monthly inspection of my branch office."
"Two days after tomorrow?" Brandon persisted.
Alexander finally closed his schedule. "Give it up," he said. "My schedule is full for the next two weeks. There's truly no time."
Brandon was silent for two minutes, then said pitifully, "No time at all? You still have to eat! Can't I meet you for dinner and chat?"
"No! I'm eating now. You've already wasted my time. If you have something to say, say it now."
How could Brandon explain over the phone? Even if he tried, Alexander wouldn't tell the truth. He needed to speak in person.
"Then I'll go there now. I'll wait for you to finish work. You have to eat afterward, right? Can I wait for dinner?" He grabbed his jacket and left.
"I'm going home for dinner. I'll leave after work; you won't have enough time," Alexander said, checking his watch. "Okay, your time's up. I'm going to a meeting. Bye!" Brandon tried to respond, but the call ended. Was Alexander that busy? Brandon's own family business, while not as large as La Beauté Group, still allowed him time to eat.
Alexander must have known what Brandon was planning and used that as an excuse to refuse him! This only fueled Brandon's curiosity and desire to meet Alexander.
"Cancel all my afternoon appointments," Brandon told his secretary. "If anyone needs me, leave a message. Only call for emergencies." He rushed out. "Cancel all of them?" his secretary asked in surprise. "You still have an appointment with Ms. Gray." "Call and cancel it!" Brandon waved his hand and entered the elevator. Nothing was more important than finding out what Alexander was up to.
