Chapter 483

Although the fire had attracted much attention, not everyone's focus was on it. Brandon deeply regretted his greed. Why had he insisted on the durian layered cake and milk tea? Even if he could cough it all up now, it would be too late.

At work and at home, Brittany relentlessly pressed him for an answer. Initially, he wanted to hide for a day or two, avoiding the truth and fearing his sister couldn't handle the pressure. However, when Brittany followed him into the men's restroom, he knew escape was impossible.

"T-This is the men's restroom. I think you're in the wrong place," Brandon stammered, pointing to the sign.

Brittany snorted. "Wrong place? If you, Brandon, my brother, are in the right place, then I am too."

"What are you saying? I'm your brother!" He looked severe, turning toward the sink, as if about to lecture her.

"So you do know you're my brother. What kind of brother are you? You promised me, but you're hiding!" Brittany fumed.

Knowing he'd met with Alexander, she'd searched for him daily—at the office, at home, at the bar. By the time she reached the bar, he was gone; his avoidance was obvious. The more he hid, the angrier she became.

"Why would I hide from you? I'm not hiding," Brandon feigned, shaking his hands, splashing water everywhere.

Brittany narrowed her eyes. He tried to run, but she grabbed his tie, pulling him close. "Are you trying to escape?"

"N-No!" he stammered. "I was getting a tissue to wipe the water off you."

"No need to trouble yourself. I can do it myself," Brittany said, turning and striding toward his office—but not releasing his tie. She dragged him, leaving him no choice but to follow. He couldn't be rough with his sister, especially not while she was yanking his tie. His face reddened as employees watched. "Brittany, Brittany, let go! I can't breathe!"

Mortified by the stares, he angrily called her by her full name, "Brittany Oakley!"

Finally, she stopped, turned, and glared at him, still furious. Brandon caught his breath, yanked his tie free, loosened it, and glared back. "You want an answer? Fine! Come with me." He strode into his office.

"Come in," he said, standing in the doorway, staring at her.

Stunned for a moment, Brittany recovered. Refusing to admit defeat, she roared, "Sure, I'll go in! What is there to be afraid of?!"
